Universities shamelessly lobby for MORE international students, yet many don't even have the capacity to house their CURRENT students. When confronted on this reckless business model, a representative from Concordia simply said: “We offer seats in classrooms, not bedrooms.” That attitude tells you everything you need to know.

BREAKING NEWS! Liberals on the Immigration Committee SHUT DOWN a Conservative motion by MP Costas Menegakis to bring immigration levels down and focus on creating opportunities for CANADIAN workers. They are not serious about getting immigration under control and putting Canadians first.

Since when is trying to hire a Canadian first “red tape”? 68,000 Canadians lost their jobs last month. I asked why the Liberals are removing Canadian hiring checks under Express Entry. The minister's rebuttal was to read out a business lobby’s praise for the policy. Of course corporations would be happy to see the Liberals make it easier to hire cheap foreign labour!

Public service is an honour and a privilege, but it can also be a challenge. After yesterday’s announcement, I’d like to thank @obbykhan60 for his service to Manitobans as Leader of the Official Opposition. Leadership comes with real pressures, and those pressures are often felt by those we love. I wish he and his family well as he moves on from this position.

BREAKING Liberal MP Arielle Kayabaga has sponsored a petition to CRIMINALLY CHARGE anyone who films homeless encampments, open drug use, or alcohol use because it can “increase stigmatization of these groups.” Are we for real right now?

Grant Jackson retweeted
In Canada, 30+ MPs and Senators back our call for an international prohibition on superintelligent AI. Grant Jackson MP (@GrantJacksonMP) is the latest - it's great to see this coalition continue to grow! With 70+ UK lawmakers now calling for the pursuit of an agreement to prohibit superintelligence, there is real momentum behind this on both sides of the Atlantic.

This happened YESTERDAY. In the middle of the Seoul Defense Dialogue, China’s military attaché had a note passed to the Philippine Defence Secretary challenging an international ruling on the South China Sea. Right there. In the middle of his remarks. This is how Beijing treats its neighbours. Bully, intimidate, and ignore international law when it doesn’t get its way. And Mark Carney thinks NOW is the time for Canada to restart military coordination with China after eight years?

So a man under national security scrutiny over allegations that he helped the IRGC develop military technology and evade sanctions went on to receive millions of dollars in Canadian government contracts, INCLUDING from our own military and the RCMP. How does someone facing allegations this serious end up doing business with some of Canada’s most sensitive institutions? globalnews.ca/news/12040736/…

Conservatives are disappointed that the United States has chosen to impose further unjustified tariffs on Canada. They threaten the jobs and livelihoods of families right across our country. Canadians must stand united to defend our country against these unfair attacks on our jobs and businesses. Canada cannot accept one-sided tariffs that will deindustrialize our country. Nor can we accept a bad deal. Instead, we must continue the fight for tariff-free trade. Later today, I will seek a call with the Prime Minister to discuss what we can do to fight for our workers, businesses, and economy. Conservatives will always put our country first. Conservatives support action to protect Canadians and our industries targeted by these unfair U.S. tariffs. We also need urgent economic reforms to restore growth, protect jobs and save our industry. That must include ending the industrial carbon tax, repealing anti-development laws, green lighting the 500 economic projects awaiting federal approval and major tax reforms to return investment to our country, reward work, and recharge our economy. All Canadians must stand united for our workers, our businesses and our country.

Don’t worry, Canada. With another U.S. tariff deadline just days away and Canadian jobs hanging in the balance, Mark Carney has a plan: 🇮🇹 Vacation in Italy. Leadership!
Mark Carney is set to take a vacation in Italy until August 17th, according to a statement from his office. They say he’s going to be updated on Canada-US trade, with the new tariff deadline August 19th and that the ethics commissioner said there were no issues with the trip #cdnpoli

CONCERNING The Foreign Influence Registry Commissioner has received ZERO national security briefings. He was appointed 6 MONTHS AGO. How can he administer this vital national security tool if he's being LEFT IN THE DARK by the Carney Govt? Doesn’t exactly instill confidence.

Ah yes, Mr. Carney, because your negotiating strategy has worked out so brilliantly for Canada so far. Concession after concession. No deal. And now, no leverage. I’m lost for words.

This would absolutely slap in a campus activist group chat.
Lewis: "What is the major threat to Canada's security today? It is the US. I don't think there's a way to prevent US military incursion in Canada. So don't use our fear of the US to just create a whole new military industrial complex ... I'm for rebooting the whole conversation."

Mark Carney said he could “handle Trump.” More than a year later: no deal, more tariffs, and Canada giving away HALF the revenues from a bridge we paid $6.4 billion to build. Handled who, exactly?

“Seems”??? CBC, give me a BREAK. Carney said the debt would be repaid BEFORE any revenue sharing. Now, the agreement says the U.S. gets 50% of net bridge revenues for the first 15 years. That doesn’t seem to contradict what Carney said. It does.

Read this twice. Canada borrowed BILLIONS to build the bridge. The U.S. paid nothing. Then, Carney signed a deal giving away 50% of the revenues for 15 years while Canadians are still paying the bill. If this is his idea of negotiating, imagine what we don’t know yet.
The text of the Gordie Howe Bridge deal has been released, and it backs up our reporting from last week. #cdnpoli Canada will give the US 50% of the revenues, after expenses to operate the bridge for 15 years. That money will go into “a United Sates-Canada Economic Development Fund, established and solely controlled by the Government of the United States.” That calculation does not include Canadian debt payments on the bridge, despite Canada paying $6.4B to build the bridge and the US/Michigan putting up $0 - “Canada and the United States will reasonably agree on the objects of the United States-Canada Economic Development Fund, which will be for the benefit of the United States and trade between Canada and the United States.” - The US government needs to give consent if tolls increase by more than 10% in one year or tolls increase or decrease below “comparable regional crossings” This is the clause that would theoretically benefit the owners of the ambassador bridge, who are noted Trump donors #cdnpoli gordiehoweinternationalbridg…

What happened, fellas? Just last week, Canadians were told the government’s condo developer bailout was the right policy and that the backlash was merely a “communication problem.” Now we’re hearing, “if people hate it, we don’t have to do it.” 🤔

This is not a communication problem, Mr. Carney. It’s a POLICY problem. Canadians are sick and tired of your government failing to build the homes they need, and instead forcing taxpayers to bail out developers and banks.
"I don't think we've done, myself included, a particularly good job of rolling this out and explaining exactly what it is," says PM Carney when asked whether developers pushed for federal-B.C. plan to convert unsold condos in the province into affordable housing units. #cdnpoli

Officially banned from the Russian Federation. It’s about damn time. Now get out of Ukraine.
⚡️ 113 more Canadian citizens are now permanently banned from entering Russia. Our country has always held the people of Canada in high regard. However, we strongly reject the openly hostile course of Canada’s current political elite towards Russia. t.me/MFARussia/30515

We know Europe is hungry for LNG and Canada can supply it. Have Liberals made the shipment of LNG through Churchill a requirement for federal support for the project? If they have, why won't they admit it instead of avoiding the question?
