Kelp forests, like this one in @NOAA_CINMS, have gas bladders, called pneumatocysts, that keep the kelp blades afloat. A giant kelp plant has these bladders at the base of each blade, whereas bull kelp plants have one that supports several blades near the surface. #EarthIsBlue
