If I think kids are "low," I will believe kids are "low."
I will treat kids as if they are "low," & I will give them work that is "low."
The result? Their performance is "low."
Anything about that surprising?
STOP with the "low" stuff!
Kids are learners & learners are not low.

It’s amazing the impact of an everyday conversation.
This year I will be more intentional about each interaction I have.
I have witnessed on so many occasions the impact of one small conversation it can change one’s trajectory.
Here’s to 2023!

ALT "At a previous school, we did staff meetings in different classrooms each month, and I highly recommend it. People volunteered their classroom spaces, and it was amazing to see different room set-ups, displays, and organizational systems. Sparked many conversations and allowed us to share great ideas!" ––Educator Kimiko Shibata

Don't just teach your children how to be successful, teach them how to respond when they are not successful, teach them how to handle failures and learn from their mistakes.
Congratulations to Mrs. Lakatos of Muskegon Middle School. What an INCREDIBLE and PROACTIVE advocate for the kids of Muskegon seeking the resources to keep students connected in her classroom!

My department visited Muskegon Public Schools as part of our initiative to ensure safety in public schools across the state.
Underserved communities require funding for security improvement measures, & MI needs common sense gun safety laws to keep firearms out of our schools.
"I have been going all over this state and I asked the same questions that I was asking to Muskegon today which is, what safety protocols (do) you have in place from an equipment standpoint? What is it that you need?” woodtv.com/news/muskegon-cou…

I will always be proud to say that I was a Mona Shores Sailor, but after 21 amazing years there, I am taking the next step in my career as the next Assistant Principal at Muskegon Middle School. Go Big Reds!
