Appears #StormBoelo peaked around 948mb, exceptionally close to the UK's October record of 947.9mb set just last year.
Maybe somewhere set a new record?

Morning all!
As #StormBoelo pulls away and pressure rises, we're seeing some big gusts (80+ Stornoway, 123 mph over Cairngorm) out of the NW.
Fair amount of damage with road and bridge closures.
Take care!
This new era of college football, say what you want about it, is filled with incredibly exciting games. Everywhere.
Any given Saturday.
Goin' back, Goin' back ...🎵
I was lucky to intern with Dr. Kirk Bryan (and Suki Manabe) at GFDL long ago
Back in Princeton this weekend for the GFDL 71st anniversary symposium. I'll be presenting tomorrow morning on the last 10 years of FV3/HAFS development and goals for the future. It's fun to catch up with colleagues from my postdoc time here, several of whom we collaborate with still.
Also enjoying the chance to see some fall color! Not much of that in Miami.

I don’t know what the state record hail size is in Arizona but this is nearly an inch wide than my iPhone. West side of Sedona.
Mesoscale analyses and model interpolations of the kinematic and thermal structure of the storm off the East Coast ... strongly suggest it never lost its frontal ties.
From my experience, the use of "subtropical storm" confuses the picture in public discourse.
FFD, RFD, MESO, inflow along the FFGF
what state is this?
Just an amazing supercell approaching Show Low right now. #azwx @NWSFlagstaff
We finally got a (partial) ASCAT pass that hit #93L. This looks like it's probably a subtropical storm, in my opinion. It looks pretty detached from the fronts on the southwest side of the circulation, and has core convection and a fairly small RMW on the NW side. It's a little hard to tell for sure on the NE side since we didn't get a pass there just yet.
Regardless of the classification, strong NE winds will affect the eastern seaboard.

No blog this week but if you're only focusing on El Niño you're missing a lot. We have an unprecedented strong this early Scandinavian-Ural block that's causing an unusually early weakening of the #PolarVortex. I admit to be struggling what to make of it & could go different ways
Looks like we got some vortex Rossby waves in the inner eyewall. #Guam
Not rare in high-end TCs.
