Great to see @scottishrugby explore new bio-banding as a strategy to help address maturity associated selection biases in youth rugby, will be interesting to see how this plays out, well done @ajboyd83 👏🏉🏴
This weekend’s regional academy fixtures will see the U16s split into two teams based on “modified bio-banding”, which looks at the physical maturation of players.

This is the problem that worries me most. We need more analysis to understand its causes and to come up with solutions. The PISA data show that our performance is also shocking compared to nearly all other countries.
Children’s life satisfaction has been declining since 2011/12. Additional support for those at risk is urgently needed to reverse this trend.

Very useful information from @NuffieldTrust showing reduction in public health grant since 2016. Notable mental health services have had very slight increase overall but for such a large proportion of health need, it’s clear we’re barely closer to ‘parity’ than 5 years ago
Where does the #NHS money go? We looked at how funding has been shared across different NHS services since 2016.
🏥 Community care funding has grown much more slowly than for acute care.
📉 Dentistry/ public health/ prescribing have seen real-terms cuts.

Now we see high suicide rates in coastal towns & rural areas.
The country’s highest rates in places like Redcar, Torbay & Blackpool.

Like others, we are concerned more pupils are being excluded from school – with 2022/23 being the highest number on record. This includes a staggering 58% rise in exclusions of primary age pupils.
