Yesterday I showed FEMA Administrator Cameron Hamilton what Hoosier communities are facing as they recover from the recent severe storms and flooding in Carmel, Gary and Connersville. I’m grateful for @fema's partnership and for @POTUS @realDonaldTrump's swift approval of our major disaster declaration, which is already bringing critical assistance to Hoosiers and communities, like the ones we saw yesterday, as they rebuild and recover.

Thank you, @GovBraun, and Indiana State Comptroller @Comp_Nieshalla, for coming to Noblesville to tour flood damage, thank first responders, and hear what’s needed for ongoing recovery efforts in America’s Hometown.

I spoke with President Trump today about the severe storms and historic flooding impacting Indiana, and he informed me that he intends to approve our request for a Presidential Emergency Declaration. I’m grateful to President Trump for his commitment to getting Hoosiers the federal assistance we need as we continue responding and recovering.

BREAKING: @GovBraun says he’s secured federal assistance in the wake of severe storms statewide: “I spoke with President Trump today about the devastation we’re seeing across Indiana, and I’m grateful to the President for quickly addressing my request and providing additional resources to help Hoosiers. My heart is with the families and loved ones of the five Hoosiers we have lost and every family whose life has been changed by these storms. Please continue to take flooding seriously and stay away from floodwaters. At my direction, our state agencies, the Indiana National Guard and emergency response teams are working around the clock alongside local officials and first responders. Our response is fully mobilized, and we will continue putting every available resource behind keeping Hoosiers safe and helping our communities recover.” @FOX59 | @CBS4Indy

My heart is with every Hoosier impacted by today’s severe weather. I am devastated to learn of the loss of life, injuries, and damaged homes. We are working around the clock with local officials, emergency responders and utility crews to get resources where they’re needed most following today’s severe storms and widespread power outages. I have directed the Indiana Department of Homeland Security to lead our state’s response efforts in collaboration with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Indiana State Police, Indiana National Guard, Indiana Department of Transportation, and the Indiana Department of Correction. ISP and INDOT are currently on the ground clearing roads and providing security and DNR and DOC are deploying additional crews to clear downed power lines and debris. I am continuing to assess conditions and stand ready to activate the Indiana National Guard if additional support is needed. Our priority is keeping Hoosiers safe, supporting communities as they assess the damage, and restoring power as quickly as possible. 🔵 Please stay off the roads where conditions are dangerous and follow guidance from local authorities. 🔵 If you have been affected by today’s storm, please contact your county emergency management agency. 🔵 If your power is out, cooling centers can be found in your area by visiting: on.in.gov/coolingcenters

Great visit to Franklin College yesterday with President Kerry Prather and Franklin Mayor Steve Barnett. Franklin College is helping build Indiana’s talent pipeline by preparing students for careers in our high-growth industries. Better yet, the vast majority of its graduates choose to build their careers right here in Indiana.

Was Teddy Roosevelt a progressive? Not in the way we use that word today. Here's why the Bull Moose doesn't fit today's political labels. 🧵

Affordability is priority one for my administration. Because of our strong focus on bringing down prices, Hoosiers not only have the lowest gas prices in the country, but we also will pay less this year for our 4th of July celebrations and less than the national average. indianacapitalchronicle.com/…
