Learning to fall is as important as learning to move! In Year 7, we introduce safe falling, contact &bracing. Developing body awareness and confidence. Linking PE to science, pupils explore how gravitational potential energy becomes kinetic energy & how we absorb & control forces

At Broadwater, PE is about more than the lesson. Through MOVE • THINK • FEEL • CONNECT, we’re developing the skills, confidence, knowledge and motivation to be active for life.
Using @miMoveApp , we’re capturing pupil voice, activity and the impact of PE, in school and beyond.
Linking movement skills with manipulation skills to build those foundational movement skills to take into different contexts

Teaching those foundational movement skills and developing into agile movements, proactive movements and transferability

This was the book I mentioned in January that wasn’t on my list because it wasn’t released yet. But Rhodri Lloyd and Jon Oliver are some of my favorite sport scientists in LTAD/Pediatric athletic development. Preordered it immediately and can’t wait to start this one.
In a Dept meeting we discussed the threads of the curriculum so we wanted something more visual..after a few bouts with the old ChatGPT..got it a few different ways
Solve the problem. Love that. Movement problems to be solved utilising movement competence, knowledge& understanding of the physical domain, versatile movers.
Traditional PE asks:
🗣“Can you perform the skill?”
Games-based learning asks:
🗣“Can you solve the problem?”
Our curriculum shifts:
Technique → Thinking
Instruction → Exploration
Teacher control → Student agency

Too often, PE is experienced by students as humiliation or indifference. A curriculum dominated by performance& disengagement
‘From PE Dresd to Delight’ confronts that reality head-on & reimagines what meaningful & inclusive learning could look like in PE
