I don’t want to post the video. You’ve all seen it. But I do want to write a love letter… Dear everyone in Britain, ( even you illegals) Just so you understand. The poppy is for the boys who never got to grow old. For the boys who were still somebody’s baby, brother, uncle or father. More than 600,000 of them. It doesn’t matter if you support war, hate your country, think you are a woman (even though you are a man). It doesn’t matter which God you pray to, or if you pray to none at all. It doesn’t matter who you vote for, what climate narrative you believe, or whether you believe Israel should exist or not! The poppy isn’t for you! It’s for those who came before. Those who fought for your right to be weird, annoying or even foreign. The poppy is how we say thank you. Thank you for giving us time, peace and choice. And attempting to ban our poppy by declaring it politically divisive isn’t a move towards freedom. It is an act of suppression. Understand that. The poppy is about love and loss. For you! So stick your rainbow flags and every other flag where the sun doesn’t shine and just wear your poppy. Those boys did not die as symbols. They died for you! Did you know that poppies grew across the battlefields where so many fell? As though even the land refused to forget the blood once given to defend it. So the poppy is for them. For those who came before us and paid in youth, in hope, in breath, in blood, so that we might have the freedom to be arseholes. So that we might even have the freedom to fight over the ridiculous, the inconsequential and the insane. Revere it, celebrate it and wear it. The very least you can do is that. Best The ordinary people.

If companies start messing with agents like Google is messing with scrapers now, then the entire agent market could get hammered. Imagine your agent ends up returning bad data, the wrong products, wrong pricing, or worse? -> Websites are closing their doors to AI agents "In recent weeks, users of services like Meta’s Muse, xAI’s Grok, OpenAI’s Dots, and Instinct have reported blocks preventing their AI agents from performing tasks across top websites. Yelp told TechCrunch that it only allows AI agents that pay for its data licensing program, while Delta Air Lines is preventing them from booking tickets on behalf of users. JPMorgan Chase and Charles Schwab have also confirmed that they’re blocking AI agents from accessing accounts due to security concerns. Some users say sites that previously worked with their AI agent are no longer accessible, including Cars .com and Amtrak, suggesting other companies could be quietly blocking them." "The Verge reached out to OpenAI and Google with requests for comments on the roadblocks their AI agents are facing but didn’t immediately hear back. Instinct declined to comment." theverge.com/ai-artificial-i…

I'm now seeing some very serious fuckery by Google on SERP Page 2 served to trackers. For commercial queries: - Page 1 includes things like alternative locations to the users. - Page 2 sometimes replaces the main entity altogether. The giveaway is in PAA, Maps, AIOs etc.
Looks like Google may have switched from blocking scrapers to instead serving poisoned responses. Very interesting strategic move IMO. Far more damaging, and much more difficult to counter than getting blocked. Have to be honest - smart change.

Oh it's so much worse than that! 1. To win in AI you have to win in search. 2. To win in search you have to blend in. Conform to the template. Just make sure you fit. Avoid being unique. Be average. 🤮 This is doing real harm to the web ecosystem and Google is to blame.
“Now the value of search optimization has been reduced to making listicles, scaling content (cause of operational efficiency), or even worse, just spam third party websites cause of that silly 85% stat.” 👊🏼

Mad Ed’s Net Zero energy policy has made us so secure that we spent £84 BILLION on buying oil, gas and electricity from abroad last year and killed off jobs and revenue from our own North Sea fields! “buy a torch and have 3 days worth of food” … everything is fine 🤡

Wow, rivals will receive some 'user interaction signal' data like clicks, returns to the results page, hovering, scrolling, swiping and viewing duration -> Google’s European licensing program will give eligible search engines access to clicks, rankings and user-behavior signals that website owners do not receive through Search Console "Google will begin providing licensing agreements on September 17, with data samples available from November 16. The data goes further than the information Google gives publishers through Search Console." "Under the European Commission’s binding measures, competitors can receive the URLs shown in search results, their positions and details about how users interacted with them. That includes clicks, returns to the results page, hovering, scrolling, swiping and viewing duration." searchenginewatch.com/google…

My talk at BrightonSEO last week turned out to be the most shared of the entire event. 🥳 Just one slight issue: It hasn't happened yet, I didn't give any talks, and the quote is made up. I know @lilyraynyc has had these fake quotes attributed to her, but it's weird to see for myself. I wonder how many end up/will end up influencing AI responses.

10 Downing Street has apparently diversified. Peptides, parcel support, puppies, mushrooms and even a note vendor. Who knew running the country left so much time for side hustles? Sadly, it is not a new government revenue strategy. It is good old fashioned Google spam.
