Quasi-crime fiction. A Charles Runyon pen-name. A 30-something housewife is saved from drowning by a strapping young college boy. They have a fling; she ends it; he becomes a dangerous stalker. It's so-so.

Quasi-classic crime fiction. I am not a Wallace fan, but you have to admit he was a good craftsman, and exceptionally popular for a lengthy career. He sold so many books that they pop up frequently in random eBay lots bought for a single book...

Classic crime fiction #4 in Sterling's Ben Pedley, mystery-solving fire marshal series. They're good mysteries, but I never get over the bizarre way Pedley talks. It takes a bit away from the suspension of disbelief.

Classic crime fiction. This is far from my favorite Stark novel. LEMONS NEVER LIE, the first Grofield solo novel, is one of Westlake's very finest works. The rest of the Grofield novels are fine, but not what I want or expect from Stark. Still a good read.

Classic crime fiction. An interesting take on the Holmes mythos in which Professor Moriarty is a "consulting criminal"--mirroring Holmes being a consulting detective--to other criminals wanting to up their game.

Quasi-classic crime fiction. A woman wants to know why she hasn't been able to see her mother, confined in a mental institution for fourteen years. Her inquiries set off a chain of events leading to murder. A precursor to the Gothic mysteries prevalent in the 60s and 70s.

Quasi-classic crime fiction. I have read at least three novels by different writers with this same title. This isn't bad, but it's probably my least favorite, about an American reporter in Rome unwittingly dragged into shenanigans.

Quasi-classic crime fiction. An early novel of Innes's, and a partial re-write of an even earlier one, a soldier goes AWOL and returns to his home in Cornwall, England only to find he's unwanted and that strange, and dangerous, things are happening all around him.

Quasi-classic crime fiction. A typical Graphic: not actually bad, but far from good. A PI is hired by a rich woman to investigate her husband's secretiveness, and along the way there are murders for which the PI is blamed.

Classic crime fiction. Lloyd Hopkins is the most brilliant detective the LAPD has ever had, but when he stumbles across what he believes is a pattern of serial killings dating back decades, it challenges even his genius.
