Elections have consequences.
As a consequence of electing Supervisor Mahmood, more homes are getting built in San Francisco! The benefit of voting pro-housing, thank you Supervisor and Mayor @DanielLurie!
Major news: Over 2,000 new homes - with 267 co-ops, 133 affordable homes, 115 senior affordable homes - are coming to the Western Addition.
Today, Mayor Lurie and I are introducing legislation to help finance and build one of the largest investments in the neighborhood in years at Freedom West.
A historically Black-owned co-op, the new Freedom West project will be a historic undertaking. Every existing co-op owner will have access to a new co-op, ensuring no resident is displaced. A 6,000 sq ft STEM Innovation Center will be built. And development will focus on local hiring between our labor unions and community - ensuring a project for community is built by community.
Legislation to create a Special Use District and authorize a Development Agreement is being introduced today, is expected to pass in the months ahead, with the first phase of senior homes to break ground early next year.
Vote YES on Prop 1 this November. 40,000 homes in California are approved, designed, and ready to build. The only thing missing is funding.
Prop 1 fixes that. The Veterans and Affordable Housing Bond Act invests $11.25 billion to get those homes built for veterans, seniors, nurses, firefighters, and families who’ve been priced out of the state they keep running.
HAC’s members are the people who build California’s housing, and they know what a funding gap does to a ready project: it sits. Prop 1 gets shovels in the ground, with strict public accountability and no new taxes.
HAC's C4 says vote YES on Prop 1.
