I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of my friend and predecessor John Prescott.
Rest in peace, comrade! Your contribution to public life will never be forgotten.

I am deeply saddened by the news of John Prescott’s death.
John was not only a Labour legend but an inspiration to me and a dear friend. He will be greatly missed by so many.
My thoughts and prayers are with Pauline and the rest of his family. May he rest in peace.

We didn't have parties to "boost morale"
We didn't have quiz nights
We didn't have champagne
We watched our colleagues die though
We were STEEPED in death
We kept going
We had to
We kept on
So don't you DARE say your parties were "necessary" @borisjohnson
You make me sick.

Gary Lineker suspended by the BBC for upsetting the Conservatives because he stood up for some of the most vulnerable people in the world. The same BBC whose chairman gave the Conservatives £400,000 before helping to arrange an £800,000 loan for Boris Johnson

Shell just recorded £32 billion in profit.
3,000 people in the UK die every year because they can't afford to heat their homes.
There’s nothing pragmatic about letting greed run rampant while the poorest freeze to death.
Energy is a public good. It should be in public hands.

MPs just voted on a motion to remove private schools' £1,700,000,000 tax break.
That could pay for free school meals for *all* primary school pupils almost twice over.
But Tory MPs voted it down, choosing to protect elite private schools, not improve opportunities for all kids.
You all do such an AMAZING job of helping people get by, but 12 years of Austerity and putting profit before people has forced people to seek your help in desperation #CostOfLivingCrisis #ToryCostOfGreedCrisis

I’m not sure about everyone else but I am absolutely sick of seeing the shadow health secretary doing interviews and articles which put forward political rhetoric which will worsen things for staff + patients instead of holding this government to account. It is deeply alarming….

Shelter provides a life-saving service to so many of my constituents.
Its workers should not struggle to pay their own rent in the name of charity.
Systemic change is needed to fix the housing crisis, but so is fairer pay for those leading the fight.

This is going to be one hell of a week for postal workers.
Facing an out of control CEO and threats to their job, terms and conditions.
They take strike action on Thursday and Friday.
Are you with management or your postie? Pick a side.
RT if you back postal workers.

This will be a massive retrograde step if the extended hours of operation of the bus lanes are reversed. They have delivered significant improvements to the reliability of our services and the 30,000+ people who use them – at Newcastle Upon Tyne, England

Watching #thecrossing on ITV . Heartbreaking to see desperate people dying trying to reach England. Some of the comments about this disgust me. I would rather be here with those who wanted a life in this country than those who shame the human race with their appalling tweets.
