Friendly reminder of our (and all of OCPS’s) summer hours. We are also closed the week of July 4th.

In May, after reading Laurel Snyder’s books in the HCMS Lunch Book Club (6th, 7th, & 8th grade read Orphan Island & 6th graders read Bigger than a Breadbox as well), they had a virtual visit with @LaurelSnyder. The visit was so much fun and informative–thank you, Laurel!

We are so proud to share our HCMS Library Stats for the 2023-24 school year! Our HCMS Students are amazing readers! #OCPSreads (Infographic can be viewed digitally at: canva.com/design/DAGF-3pDjqk…)

To help reduce the summer slide in math, HCMS assigns a summer math packet to keep students' math skills sharp over the summer. All incoming math classes, except Algebra, will have a summer packet to complete. bit.ly/3yai0BD

Logging for HCMS reading will also log for the OCPS Summer Reading Challenge! Also, join OCPS in the ONE OCPS Middle School Read: The Liar Society by Alyson Gerber which is available on Sora, as are many other titles! #ocpsreads

HCMS Summer Reading: Read 2+ books of your choice, log reading time on Beanstack, and write a review of at lest two books on Beanstack. Help us reach our goal of 16,755 minutes on Beanstack over the summer! #ocpsreads

Research has shown that reading during the summer is not only critical in building reading skills but in maintaining reading gains from the previous year. For this reason, summer reading is required at HCMS. Flyer available at: bit.ly/3yai0BD #ocpsreads

Third, we want to give special recognition to HCMS alumna Sharanya Chatterjee! Check out her interviews on Fox 35 (fox35orlando.com/news/florid…) and WESH (wesh.com/article/orlando-sen…) to hear about her accomplishments. @OCPS_FreedomHS
