I recently watched Healing Humanity, and I honestly wish a documentary like this had existed when I first started my carnivore journey in 2023.
In the summer of 2023, I developed severe IBS-D (diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome). I visited numerous hospitals, including major medical centers, underwent all kinds of tests, and tried different medications. Nothing seemed to help.
Desperate for answers, I started researching on my own that fall, mostly through English-language YouTube videos. That's how I discovered the carnivore diet.
Almost three years later, my IBS has improved significantly, and I've even been able to stop taking medication for ADHD.
I'm not 100% carnivore yet, since I still drink a little coffee, but I'm hoping to give that up soon too.
What I loved most about Healing Humanity was that it wasn't just another documentary filled with doctors and scientists explaining the mechanisms behind a particular diet.
Instead, it focused on real people sharing their personal stories.
In just two hours, I heard so many powerful experiences, including stories I'd never come across before. Some were heartbreaking, some were incredibly inspiring, and many reminded me why I started this journey in the first place.
One story that particularly moved me was about a cancer patient who was able to spend far more time with their family than initially expected.
Of course, I also appreciate the scientific explanations from doctors and researchers. But hearing directly from people whose lives have changed is something completely different.
I was also happy to see Dave Mac, who previously interviewed me about my own carnivore journey on his YouTube channel, featured in the film!
The carnivore diet isn't perfect, and I don't believe it's a magic cure for everything. But based on my own experience, I strongly believe dietary changes can make a tremendous difference in people's physical and mental health.
Back in 2023, I had to dig through countless English-language videos to find information. Today, there are growing communities, more resources, and now documentaries like this one.
That's real progress.
Unfortunately, the carnivore diet is still relatively unknown here in Japan. I'd love to see this documentary available in Japanese someday.
And I hope to do my part in spreading awareness of this way of eating here in Japan, especially among people who feel they've run out of options.
A huge thank you to everyone who made this film possible, and to all the people who courageously shared their stories.
Special thanks to @realzerocarb, @doctorkiltz, @anthony_chaffee, @GeorgiaEdeMD, @SBakerMD, and @KenDBerryMD for continuing to share their knowledge and experiences.

The documentary film, Healing Humanity, is out now! As one of its executive producers, I'm honored to have played a small role in bringing this project to the world. This big-hearted independent film was made on a shoe-string and was a true labor of love for Kerry Mann and everyone else involved.
Five years ago, when our family first learned about ketogenic therapy for mental health, there was almost nothing out there to point people toward. No press coverage. No films. No clinical trials in the scientific literature. Just a handful of individuals and clinicians who were seeing how a specific change in nutrition and metabolism could lead to healing the body and mind.
That’s a big part of why I said yes to this film.
Healing Humanity began with Kerry Mann Jr., a homesteader suffering from deep depression, who was 100 pounds overweight and was told his congestive heart failure and arthritis were permanent. When Kerry adopted a what he refers to as a proper human diet, he reclaimed his mental and physical health.
Then he and his co-director Adam Lacy, who has his own long recovery story from traumatic brain injury, spent three years driving around the country with a camera asking one question: who else has a similar story?
The answer turned out to be a lot of people. The film weaves together roughly 60 interviews with physicians, researchers, and ordinary people who got their lives back by returning to a proper human diet. Type 2 diabetes. Depression and anxiety. Autoimmune disease. Chronic pain. Women’s health. Aging. Among the clinicians who sat down with Kerry are @GeorgiaEdeMD, @KenDBerryMD, @SBakerMD, @ifixhearts and @thomasseyfried, and they don’t hold back.
What I love most about this film is that it isn’t a lecture. It’s people telling you, in their own words, what it felt like to be told “there’s nothing more we can do,” and what it felt like to find out that wasn’t true--exactly the journey our son @matthewbaszucki travelled.
This is the same conversation we’ve been having for years: that what we eat shapes our metabolism, that our metabolism shapes our brains, and that millions of people living with chronic physical and mental illness have never once been told that food might be part of the answer. The science is still catching up to the stories. But the stories are real, and they deserve to be heard.
Kerry and Adam made this film independently, funded by thousands of small donors, and they’ve set it up so every dollar from purchases goes first toward giving the film away free to people who can’t afford it. That tells you everything about who they are.
Watch it tonight. Then watch it again with a parent, a sibling, or a friend who has been told their diagnosis is forever. Gift it to someone who needs to know that healing is possible.

Healing Humanity Premieres!
The carnivore documentary is finally here, debuting in Montello Cinema, USA.
Created by Kerry Mann, Adam Lacy, Lynn Divoky, Ashley Rogers, and many more, this local release celebrates the creators, doctors, and crowdfunders who made it possible.
This documentary is genuinely exciting because it’s built by people who’ve personally transformed their health through the right food and time.
It’s not based on fake studies or cherry picked biology, it draws straight from the real, practical experiences of people in the carnivore community.
@HHDocumentary @homesteadhow How can we watch it and when will it be accessible for the world to see?
For now, if people are interested, head to the official webpage for all details.
I am sure a worldwide online release is coming, stay tuned for dates so you and your family can see it too!
