Just finished reading Blue Hawk by @TurnerPen2Paper and am bereft. A gorgeously written and tender story with beautifully drawn characters set in and around Stroud. I've learned so much about the art of cloth-dying and am genuinely gutted to have finished reading itπŸ’”

Over eight years of writing it's taken me four years to figure out that writing short stories is what I most love. Boy have I overcomplicated things. If I'd asked my past self the question first I'd have saved myself a lot of troubleπŸ€·β€β™€οΈ#amwriting #shortstories

Nothing like trying to edit out 10% of the story with a competition deadline looming😬

Oh my goodness it’s 2pm and no one I mean no one has been into the bookshop today we’ve not sold a single book, this is a first in 4 years! Not after sympathy just telling you how it is because these kind of trading conditions have massive knock on’s for the entire industry.

There's an author whose work I love. Everything she's written is amazing, but I just read her debut (15 years old) & it blew me away, by far my favourite. I wonder how much of that initial spark, joy, integrity & bravery in new writers is snuffed out by the industry.
