Yall look at how much HeLa cells cost. $546 PER VIAL. That family is owed BIG TIME. Good for them.

Raise your hand if you’re a scientist that’s ever been forced to use Henrietta Lacks’ (HeLa) cells in the lab 🙋🏾♀️ I cried. I said are there ANY other cells we can use? They said NO. Not for the protocol we were using. SO MANY scientific discoveries were made using her cells.
Dragon!

Never laugh at someone. You don't know what they are going through.
It was an honour to meet our inspiring @LM_Westminster earlier this week as she celebrated the academic, artistic and athletic achievements of school children. She had an encouraging word for every single awardee, and she reminded us all to love much and to live gently.

Today we remember one of the world's greatest scientists: Marie Skłodowska Curie, who died #OTD in 1934.
Curie was the first person to be awarded the #NobelPrize twice and is still the only person to receive the prize in two different scientific fields.

Marie Curie died of aplastic anaemia on 4 July 1934, a result of years of exposure to radiation through her work. Even today her laboratory notebook from 1899-1902, is radioactive and will be for 1,500 years.
