Today, we mark Labour Day by recognising the dignity, resilience, and contribution of all workers who keep our communities and economies running. At Youth Alive! Kenya, we celebrate our dedicated staff whose passion and commitment continue to drive impact across communities. Your work, energy, and belief in change are what make our mission possible. We also honour domestic workers whose labour often goes unseen yet remains essential in sustaining households, enabling productivity, and strengthening care systems. Their rights, safety, and fair working conditions must remain a priority. As we celebrate this day, we reaffirm our commitment to advocating for decent work, fair pay, and social protection for all, especially those in the care economy. Happy Labour Day.

Earlier today, Kituo appeared before the @Senate_KE Labour Committee to represent KEMRI retirees in their long fight for justice over unpaid pensions under the KEMRI Staff Pension Scheme (Defined Benefit). #LegalEmpowerment #AccessToJustice

Kituo participated in the launch of “Margin to Metrics” by @HakiDataLab . The research validates the dignity of Nairobi’s informal workers who keep the city running yet remain largely unrecognized and unprotected. Data is a critical step toward legal empowerment.

Many househelps in Kenya are still being paid in kind (food & shelter) as guards get 6K per month? These are the approximate minimum wages in Nairobi by law: 1. Househelp = Ksh 16K 2. Waiter/Cook = Ksh 17K 3. Day watchman = Ksh 16K 4. Night watchmen = Ksh 17K 5. Tailor = Ksh 27K 6. Tailor's assistant = Ksh 18K 7. Printer operator = Ksh 21K 8. Caretaker (buildings) = Ksh 33K 9. Cashier = Ksh 36K Employers, you don't have to provide competitive renumeration, but at least respect the minimum wages prescribed by law. @AtwoliDza

In loving memory of Rex Maasai — our largest meeting room carries his name, but his spirit lives far beyond these walls. With his parents present, we honored not just a life lost, but a story that must never be forgotten. This room stands as a reminder: we remember, we grieve, and we continue to speak their names and always fight for justice.
