CETTS Constant Effort Thermal Survey Sites. A very confiding Jacksnipe at one of our sites in County Durham, confident of its cryptic camouflage it let us approach through the buffalo grass to obtain these images. We monitor the influx of these birds @HalfSnipe

For many many years, I’ve wanted an opportunity to set up a little pop-up hide to see into the secretive lives of Jack Snipes. Set up at a promising looking pool in Nottinghamshire the other day, and wowzas!!!!! 3 bobbing away in front of me tonight!

Superb portrait of a roosting bird on the N.Tees marshes #HalfSnipe2627
The Jack Snipe came even closer yesterday, the feather detail is so beautiful, even when hidden in the grass. @teesbirds1 @DurhamBirdclub @teeswildlife @Natures_Voice @NatureUK @WildlifeMag #birdwatching #wildlifephotography #bird @nybirdnews

We were fortunate to be sitting in the hide at NWT Holme Dunes when this guy said he could see a Jack Snipe in the reeds in front of us, it eventually showed well after 45 minutes😃 @teesbirds1 @DurhamBirdclub @teeswildlife @NatureUK #wildlifephotography #bird @nybirdnews

To all the Birders who keep insisting it’s AUTUMN in July… Look 👀! ⬇️ It’s Winter ! 😄 #HalfSnipe26
A very unseasonable Jack Snipe is at Cley NWT at the moment. It's on the Serpentine pool, but typically hiding most of the time. I finally caught up with it yesterday evening. (More pics at cleybirds.com.)

A dull, cold morning, so naturally have to check for jack snipes! 3 present this morning on a local site and one not too tucked away for a change. They do look like strange little aliens to me @HalfSnipe @LondonBirdClub #londonbirds
