Connor Hendrich et al. from the lab of @CaitilynAllen found that a byproduct of denitrification, the toxic free-radical nitric oxide, positively regulates the Ralstonia solancearum type III secretion system both in vitro and in planta.

New paper ! Excited to get this one out. Great collaborative project (neat story about how it formed). Effector -> nucleus, changes splicing of R gene, leading to production of R protein that recognizes the same effector in cytoplasm to elicit HR.
