Thank you to the one person who liked my most recent thread fic while drama continues elsewhere, it’s nice to know people still appreciate the work I do
I should probably say that I do not plan on removing any of my fics from ao3 once the site is operational again, though I am considering locking them. I don’t personally like deleting stuff off the internet, even if it’s old and bad
I mean, my artwork from 2017 still exists lol
Hi everyone!! In light of Ao3 going down for 2-4 weeks (I’m devastated.) I’d like to make a statement about the reposting of my writing if anyone has them downloaded
1) DO NOT reupload my work on ANY PUBLICLY ACCESSIBLE site! This means gDrive, wattpad, tumblr, etc etc

If anyone sees my work being reposted onto any of these Google drives, please report them to me or attempt to remove them!! I do not consent to my work being shared like that
I don’t know if I should laugh or cry that my viral post on this account is about people posting my fics without permission even though I posted knowing that such a thing was unlikely
But if anyone sees a work written by “hand_ler” that’s me

second take of the day: this entire Ao3/fanfic discourse is literally just people confusing personal boundaries with gatekeeping.
pro-piracy advocacy is about fighting the gatekeeping of culture and knowledge. dismissing a writer's (worker's) wishes is pro-consumerist.
I also want to say I appreciate all the support I’m seeing from people, especially those overseas! This is the kind of community that I want to help cultivate, where people can post their work and be appreciated but also respected for their time and effort
At this point I’m just kinda hoping that post stops being shown to people. Even if I mute it or set it to mutuals only, I’d just get the same messages from QRTs and DMs if they really wanna come bother me
At that point I just think both of our time is being wasted
I honestly don’t know why I’m surprised by all the hateful replies I’ve received. I don’t think I was being rude, I wasn’t attacking anyone, simply requesting that my work be kept off these drives
Yet people still mocked and attacked me for stating my wishes for MY work

Got sent this and literally made an acc just to comment because yeah, as a fanfic writer I'm not cool with my fic being reuploaded like this, and seeing fellow fic writers dogpiled just for saying they're not comfortable is pissing me off... (1/20)

“You uploaded your fic to a site that has a download button on the page, you consented to it being downloaded” yeah, I don’t care if someone saves my fic to read later or read somewhere without WiFi, but that sure as hell wasn’t me consenting for my content to be redistributed.

My hot(?) take is that the same fandom norms and etiquette on reposting fanart, should apply to fanfic.
This is regardless of how permissive individual writers are about their fic, just like how the norms exist regardless of how permissive individual artists are about their art.
