Congratulations to Cynthia St. Hilaire, PhD, who has been named director of a new Center for Aortic Valve Disease Prediction and Integrated Research as part of a @American_Heart initiative. The center will focus on: • Predicting disease risk using machine learning • Understanding how genetic and biological factors drive progression • Identifying new therapeutic targets to prevent valve calcification By bringing together engineering, biology, and clinical insight, this work aims to shift aortic stenosis care from reactive surgery to proactive prevention. 🔗 Read more: medschool.pitt.edu/news/pitt… #H2P #ResearchMatters

Replying to @HanqiangD
@HanqiangD et al found that disturbed blood flow switches on a gene regulator #FOXO1 via lactate to drive #inflammation & #plaque formation, while healthy flow turns it off, revealing new targets to prevent #atherosclerosis. Learn more at ahajrnls.org/41PJBU6

We first provide a historical overview, then discuss the concept of set point and mechanisms of low and high FSS-mediated inward and outward remodeling. We then cover in vivo animal models, molecular mechanisms, and clinical implications. @YaleCVRC @AHAScience @American_Heart
