Idc what they say, re-sign Karlsson. $12M x 3. He’s so damn good.
Geno, hopefully Letang, and a few others will be off the books. We have space.
Hope McGroarty is a good player. Helps the Pens greatly if he can be a middle 6 guys. It looks like skating is so much more difficult for him than anyone on the ice. Maybe just the way he’s crouched over, idk. Some players glide effortlessly. He works his butt off to move stiff
3 games into the season, this group largely wanted to trade Lizotte and Dewar to play Hallander+. They’re still a top 10 PK and top 5 4th line
5 of the 6 major replacements got younger. I also would like to see the kids play. But the narrative is wrong.
Mantha (32) > Robertson (25)
Acciari (34) > Kuzmenko (30)
Wotherspoon (29) > Carlile (26)
Shea (29) > Korczak (25)
Clifton (31) > TVR (35)
Skinner (27) > Murashov (22)
Most nights, Karlsson is the best player on the ice. Despite the dumbass sh*t. You just watch him and know he’s the best out there. Obviously with Colorado, there’s are a couple others moving better/faster. But he’s generally stands out crazy
Novak is a dynamic player. Is he the right player on a primarily rebuilding team? Perhaps not. But he’s a valuable NHL player.
Regardless of line or role, Robertson has been such a great signing. Plays his ass off. Been on every line. Is PK’ing.
Kuzmenko has looked fast in the first.
Girard been solid all year.
We paid $4M x 2y for a 35yo TVR when we had Wotherspoon and Shea, have Pickering and Brunicke, and have an organization that believes left-right doesn’t matter. Bananas that he was consciously chosen over these options (+lesser options not noted) @TheDanKingerski @JoshYohe_PGH
Rakell is SOO underrated. And we need to protect Lizotte like Sid. People know he’s the backbone.
31-12-12 with Blake Lizotte in the lineup and 10-13-4 without him
Lizotte gets very literally like 95% defensive zone starts. Half his ice time is PK. And he is still gonna picket you 10+ goals and a top 5 PK unit

Agree that Pens wouldn’t have won without Malkin. And he’s terribly underrated. Was a top 3 player for years. But the Pirates wouldn’t be in Pittsburgh without @TheCUTCH22 . They were dead. He resurrected a franchise. They wouldn’t have lasted without him. Cutch is the savior
