Separate your eggs, cause you only need the whites. My geriatric German shepherd gets the yolks teapaw.org/HargrettHours/status/1…

And now it sits on the counter overnight. You want the beaten egg whites to separate. Not recommended for meringue, totally recommended for medieval paints teapaw.org/HargrettHours/status/1…

Since we're doing "book technologies" rather than more traditional "manuscript studies" this semester, this seems an apt way to start the semester. Welcome to Fall 2020, dear students.

If you get *really* bored during lockdown, you can try making parchment from fish skin. (I'm not that bored yet, BTW)

EVERYONE! The Biblotheque Nationale de France in Paris has created a "make your own medieval monster" app using bits and pieces of creatures found in their medieval manuscripts. Yeah it's in French, but still. Hours of fun for the whole family!
#CultureChezNous

Yes. Traditionally, parchment is made from animal skins. This is made from salad.

I'm sorry, did you say VEGAN PARCHMENT?
Vegan parchment: Dizzy Pragnell, UK artist, makes books from thin slices of vegetables. This is the world's driest borscht. Will be on view in Sense-ational Books, opening 9 April @bodleiancsb
