We’ve rebuilt our expected goals model! There’s been tons of changes to the game over the years, which the model needed to adapt to. You can read more about the new model here: moneypuck.com/about.htm

I keep seeing some really sloppy talking points with regards to firing Dan and the front office types. For the record, yes there is 1000% a valid case to fire them. But it stems from things that they can and did not control and not just "wearing it' because of a bad season.

For anyone refencing Bryce Millers ERA through the 3rd time through the order his FIP is only slightly higher than Gilberts and is worse than Woo's. Pitching the third time through order just sucks in general.

I just want to acknowledge that I recorded a podcast with @TheCaseyMcLain and he didn't disparage Naylor once today and I feel like that's progress

This is a very good point.
One great thing about having A-Rod back in Seattle that we should all appreciate is the reminder that you CAN send your top prospect young shortstop back to the minors and have him still become a star.

Any talk of Cal's "drop off" without discussing his oblique injury is absolutely disingenuous and uninformed. They're just talking about him as if he's at the same place physically and simply, he's not.

I'm not a big "kick someone while they're down" guy. I'm glad he's taking some accountability but realistically if he wants to help this club he'd go on the DL or go to the DH more. He's still catching 80%+ of games with an oblique injury and that just can' t be helping.
Cal Raleigh after Tuesday's loss, via @RyanDivish: "We're not playing well. That starts with me. I'm awful. I've got to find a way to be better and to help bring the guys along. We just gotta play better. We're just playing very, very, very bad baseball in every facet of the game."

I love Josh Naylor, I was and still am happy the Mariners re-signed him. But he needs to be protected from himself. The batted ball data and the swing data show *something* is amiss and the telecast crew has shown how much he winces when he swings, re: wrists.

Telling us two days off is going to help an issue he's had since June is either just straight gaslighting or being naive and I honestly can't tell which it is.

Naylor getting the start today is disappointing. Bro-hymn *needs* a DL stint that he very obviously does not want.

Both him and Cal have needed DL stints and just avoiod them despite clear visual indicators. It's really sad that there is a vacancy of club house accountability and leadership within the team. Say what you want about Dan and in game decisions. This is a much biggere issue imo.

Look, a lot of people I think dislike him (I know I get texts from friends) but he's getting BABIP'd to death and poor ground ball fielding. He's very Bazardo-esque with a plus fastball that induces soft contact and a slider that he gets toooons of swings and misses.
Replying to @Harrison_Crow
We probably need to talk about Rucker...

I'm not saying he's a eighth inning or nineth inning guy but he's pitched better than his ERA and its crazy how much bad luck he's had. I think he's a guy that will see a swing in his performance the more opportunities he gets.

A few screenshots of Rucker data, he's just a guy and he's not a bad one to have in the short term. Bad luck really colors our perception of him but... he's not a terrible pitcher.
