The execution of this play on 3rd and 7 of the opening drive is flat-out awful. First off, this cross-corner pass (it's not a dig route) to Michael Wilson is a play that is in both Wilson's and Kyler's wheelhouses. It makes zero sense as to why, with a clean pocket, Kyler panics and flushes so quickly to his right into the only defender who has a direct path to him. As a result, Kyler can only muster a weak throw and on a corner route that W-Willy has clearly won. Wilson's having to readjust his route to angle back for a wobbling, underthrown ball was very difficult, yet he actually makes a great effort to try to catch it. If Kyler throws this cross corner "on schedule" and ON TIME from the pocket, this a 30+yard gain with a chance for a turn up the field RAC that already puts the Cardinals in field goal range. and creates early momentum. Look at the Cardinals' RT Jonah Williams. He has no idea that Kyler is just bailing out on his own on this play. Otherwise, Williams would have made an effort to go out and get the edge. When you watch this play from behind in the All-22, the Cardinals' OL creates a perfect pocket wall. There was no inside pressure on the play and a clean pocket to throw on schedule from, which is where Wilson was expecting the pass to come from. Look at the Seahawks' FS. He abandons deep middle to cover McBride and leaves the cross corner wide open. All Kyler had to do on the play was catch the snap, take his three steps and throw the ball, ON TIME. It also would have told SEA that hey, maybe trying to drop the safety to play McBride is not such a good idea. Maybe the Cardinals are on to our schemes.
