Tennis POTD 🎾 (26/10) ATP Vienna 🇦🇹 (3U) Jacob Fearnley ML @ 2.00 / +100 𝗟𝗜𝗞𝗘 = You’re Tailing ❤️ I can already imagine what is going through your head “This guy told us to bet on Sonego to beat Fearnley and now he’s telling us Fearnley will beat Arthur Fery” and I could well be wrong, I am only human after all but let me explain why I am taking Fearnley in this spot. First of all, the line opened with Jacob Fearnley as a favourite and the public has hammered Arthur Fery resulting in the odds flipping and now I feel like this presents a much better opportunity to bet on Fearnley… I think many people (myself included) have counted Jacob Fearnley out this year because of his rather poor results but I think Vienna is going to be a turning point because I remember how good Fearnley played on these courts last year, he beat a dangerous Medjedovic and he even gave Zverev a 6-1 set and pushed him to a deciding tiebreak. Most of Fearnleys titles have came on indoor hard courts and if we look at his qualifiers performances he has beaten two VERY respectable players who you wouldn’t expect to be in qualifiers and are both top 100s. Fearnley has great lateral movement, he can approach the net to finish points and from the baseline he hits fast, opens up the court and stretches his opponents till he can find the winner. He has just won a title in Olbia, showing he could be gaining confidence, is now on his favourite surface and at a venue where he has got some impressive wins and I think Arthur Fery is actually due a regression after that miraculous Wimbledon run that has him sat inside the top 30! Fery has already overachieved this year, I don’t see motivation being too high for him and the fact he lost in Lyon to Borna Gojo on ultra slow courts tells us everything we need to know about about where he is at right now coming to the end of the season. Whereas, Fearnley has dealt with trials and tribulations for over a year and is now finally starting to gain some form and will be hungrier than ever. Arthur Fery doesn’t even have the game to trouble Fearnley in these conditions, Sonego landed 71% of first serves and has an elite net game which helped him keep it close and it still wasn’t enough. The only thing I don’t like about Fearnley is the fact he is a double fault machine and can go through periods of games where he is error prone but with his return game I think he will have all the looks in the world on Arthur Ferys serve…
