A generous gift, a new home and plenty of music to come! We are delighted to have received a piano from a kind member of our Northwood community. Our thanks also go to Little & Lampert Pianos for their excellent service and care in transporting the piano to our second-floor music room in St Mary’s. What a lovely morning with our Haydon families! Thank you to everyone who joined our first Breakfast with the New Headteacher. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet Mrs de Jong and other members of our Senior Leadership Team, share experiences, and offer valuable feedback on school life. Among the heartwarming testimonials, three families shared that Haydon wasn't their first choice, but they were glad to join our community and happy with the support their children receive. Hearing what that support means to families made the morning especially memorable. Thank you for your time, openness, and contributions. Big ambitions start with the right support. Over the past two days, our entire Year 11 cohort has joined Mr Hayaan, Head of Sixth Form, for sessions exploring revision strategies to help them make the most of their study time and approach their exams with confidence. These sessions are part of the extra support our team offers as students prepare for this important stage, encouraging them to aim high while ensuring they feel supported along the way.

Last week, our A Level Geography students spent five days at the Field Studies Council’s Slapton Ley centre, undertaking fieldwork for their Non-Examined Assessment (NEA). Students put their classroom learning into practice, gathering data, developing their fieldwork skills and building confidence as independent researchers. A fantastic opportunity to explore Geography first-hand and bring their studies to life. #SpaceToGrow

Haydon School is proud to be partnered with Kherson Gymnasium 16 in Ukraine through the British Council’s UK–Ukraine School Partnerships programme. Mr Matton, our Head of English, recently joined fellow educators in Kraków to develop our shared reading-for-pleasure project. Together, we are creating opportunities for students to share stories, discover different perspectives and build connections across borders. Our partner school has continued teaching online for four years, despite the challenges of war. Yesterday, our A-level Biology students visited Wakehurst, taking their learning beyond the classroom and exploring the natural world first-hand. Thank you to the Biology Department for organising the trip and giving students this opportunity to connect their studies with the world around them. #SpaceToGrow

Congratulations to our Year 10 students who were selected by the English Department to take part in the Jack Petchey Speak Out! Challenge workshop today. Led by Speakers Trust, the workshop gave students intensive training in public speaking before they delivered a speech on a topic of their choice. It was a fantastic opportunity to develop their confidence, communication skills, clarity of thought and use of language. We are very proud of everyone who took part and had the courage to speak out.
