Cruising at FL360 over the Congo forest in the DRC and got the exact same thing on a 737-800—hard EGPWS warnings ("TERRAIN, PULL UP") triggered by spoofed position data.
Fortunately, @Boeing recently published the “GPS Data Unreliable checklist ”to help crew recognize ,manage such issues and transition safely to IRS and conventional radio navigation if required.
Stay sharp out there! ✈️

Taxing into the ramp at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (HAAB) always gives you a front-row seat to an absolute masterclass in modern airline operations. Looking out across this massive ramp, the sheer lineup of modern widebodies is breathtaking.
As Africa’s undisputed aviation giant, @flyethiopian boasts a powerhouse fleet of over 170 aircraft with an average age under 7 years, connecting Addis to more than 145 international destinations across six continents. Add in a world-class MRO facility, the massive Ethiopian Aviation Academy, and strategic multi-hub subsidiaries spanning the continent (like ASKY and Malawi Airlines), and you realize this is a textbook example of how to build a global aviation ecosystem.
Spotted that gorgeous Star Alliance livery parked on our left —always a great morning in the skies and on the tarmac! 🌍✈️

Terror was met with courage. Courage was met with honour.
President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed embraces Captain Smit Machchhar, hero of flydubai Flight FZ1073, honoured with the Order of Zayed II.

UAE President confers the First Class Order of Zayed II on the flydubai crew members involved in September’s in-flight incident, in recognition of their courageous efforts to ensure the safety of passengers. The honours were presented by Hamdan bin Mohammed, who commended the crew’s actions and sense of responsibility.

Aircraft is at 39,000 ft and the TAWS( terrain awareness warning system) is yelling “PULL UP"
Captain filmed this on the 787 at FL390 so maintenance could see exactly what the crew hears.
The warning is false. GPS spoofing injects a fake position or altitude into the TAWS. The terrain database thinks the jet is somewhere it isn’t and the alert fires.
This is a known issue on certain routes. Crews are briefed, and some operators allow temporary inhibition of the look-ahead function at cruise when procedures permit

Nothing beats standing in a park and watching a Kenya Airways 777 come in low with the gear down. The red engines and that tail still make the whole approach feel special.

The Boeing 777-300ER is only around 8% longer than the largest Boeing 787 Dreamliner, yet its maximum takeoff weight is nearly 38% higher.
The difference becomes even more striking when you compare their engines.
The 777-300ER measures 73.9 metres long, compared with 68.3 metres for the 787-10. Despite that relatively small difference in length, the 777 can take off weighing up to 351.5 tonnes, against approximately 254 tonnes for the Dreamliner.
That’s almost 100 tonnes between two aircraft that might not look dramatically different in size.
Much of the difference comes down to what they were designed to do.
The 777-300ER was built to carry large numbers of passengers and substantial cargo on busy long-haul routes. The 787, meanwhile, was designed around efficiency, allowing airlines to operate long-distance services with fewer passengers.
Their engines reflect that distinction.
Each of the 777-300ER’s enormous GE90-115B engines can produce more than 115,000 pounds of thrust, roughly 50% more than the engines fitted to the 787-10, depending on configuration.
The 777 also has six wheels on each main landing gear assembly, compared with four on the Dreamliner.
Both aircraft have become important parts of modern long-haul aviation, but their specifications reveal just how differently Boeing designed them.
The 777-300ER isn’t dramatically longer than the largest Dreamliner. It’s built to lift considerably more weight.

The future of freighters is 777.
For decades, the Queen of the Skies has been a powerhouse in moving global cargo. Now, the 777 Freighter is carrying the 747's legacy forward—as the world's most operated widebody freighter and setting the pace for what’s next.
The next-gen 777-8 Freighter is designed to build on the proven capabilities of 777F, bringing greater efficiency to large-payload freighters.

Taking off from Eldoret International Airport (HKEL) aboard @FlyJambojet flight JMA8661 bound for Nairobi (HKJK) offers a fantastic view right behind the high-wing setup!
Sitting at 6,941 feet above sea level, Eldoret is one of the highest altitude airports in Kenya with regular commercial flight operations. Operating at this elevation requires impressive performance, which is where the De Havilland Dash 8 Q400's twin Pratt & Whitney Canada PW150A turboprop engines shine. Producing around 5,071 shaft horsepower each, these engines give the Q400 the necessary thrust and climb capabilities to effortlessly handle high density altitude conditions.
As the aircraft accelerates and lifts off over the lush green forest running alongside the runway, you get a clear look at the main landing gear cycling upwards and tucking neatly into the rear undersides of the extended engine nacelles!

Taxiing out at LHR today, spotted this high-visibility red-and-white lattice tower (with a red/white cylinder at the top) right next to the runway! ✈️🇬🇧
It’s a key part of the airfield’s Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) and Runway Visual Range (RVR) infrastructure.
How it works:
Optical forward-scatter and transmissometer sensors on these towers measure atmospheric extinction to calculate exact runway visibility/RVR.
Ceilometers and anemometers transmit real-time cloud base heights, surface wind, temperature and pressure to the airfield network.
This feeds ATIS/METAR for ATC and automated broadcasts, giving pilots instant local weather for takeoff and approach calculations.
Always cool to appreciate the precision tech keeping us flying safely! 🌤️✈️
