Replying to @WilliamShatner
The average Tesla owner spends less time per year waiting at a charger than a gas car owner spends waiting to pump gas.

Dealerships killed the F-150 Lightning — and it has nothing to do with the truck.
The Lightning is legitimately awesome. Quick, smooth, quiet, practical, and it tows/hauls like a real truck. But the buying experience around it? Terrible.
Here’s why Lightning momentum cooled off (and why a lot of would-be buyers never make it past “interested”):
1) The dealership model is built to extract, not educate
EV buyers show up with real questions: charging, winter range, road trips, home install, adapters, real-world efficiency.
What they often get instead:
“Uh yeah it’s basically the same as a gas truck”
Confidently wrong info
A vibe that you’re annoying for asking details
Or the classic: “We can figure that out after you sign”
2) Markups + games turn excitement into disgust
Nothing makes a customer feel dumber than:
A surprise “market adjustment”
Mandatory add-ons
Finance office nonsense that drags for hours
People don’t leave thinking “EVs are bad.”
They leave thinking “I’m not rewarding this.”
3) Dealers don’t believe in the product, so buyers don’t either
You can feel it. Some dealers treat the Lightning like a compliance unit sitting on the lot—something they have to carry, not something they’re proud to sell.
If the person selling it doesn’t even sound convinced… why would a buyer be?
4) And when the truck has a weird moment, it becomes a headline
My Lightning “failed” in the most confidence-destroying way: 0% displayed SoC and stranded, even though there was still energy left.
That’s not just a “range” story — it’s a trust story.
And dealership weirdness on top of that is how you go from “this thing is incredible” to “I’m out.”
What @Ford should do:
Standardized, transparent pricing
EV-specific sales requirements (actual training, not vibes)
No forced add-ons
Make buying a Lightning feel like buying the future, not buying a used Altima in 2009
Or more boldly? Find a way to go around dealerships completely with a new brand.
Because the Lightning isn’t losing on product.
It’s losing at the point of sale.
If you’ve bought an EV from a legacy OEM… did the dealer help, hurt, or just waste your time? What about buying direct to consumer? (Tesla, Rivian, Lucid)
I have a whole rant in my latest Lightning video here at timestamp 09:58 - lnkd.in/ei56MsFh
More data that shows how much dealerships suck as a sales model.
We contacted 100 @Ford dealers nationwide asking for the out-the-door price on the same truck.
Same vehicle.
Same MSRP (within a few hundred dollars).
Same buyer profile.
The only difference was the dealership.

Jim indirectly acknowledged what many Tesla bulls have been saying for a while — Ford nowhere near close to EV profitability. It wasnt about the new factory costs or one-time charges.
Ford CEO Jim Farley on why the company is cancelling the all-electric F-150 Lightning:
"The $50k, $60k, $70k EVs just weren't selling; We're following customers to where the market is. We're going to build up our whole lineup of hyrbids. It's gonna be better for the company's profitability, shareholders and a lot of new American jobs. These really expensive $70k electric trucks, as much as I love the product, they didn't make sense. But an EREV that goes 700 miles on a tank of gas, for 90% of the time is all-electric, that EREV is a better solution for a Lightning than the current all-electric Lightning."
An EREV is what Ford calls an “extended range electric vehicle,” which adds a "gas generator that can recharge the battery pack to power the motors."

Will the last automaker left using CCS in North America turn off the lights on their way out?
NEWS: Stellantis has announced that it is adopting @Tesla's NACS for select Stellantis EVs in North America, Japan and South Korea, giving future access to more than 28,000 Tesla Superchargers across all five countries.
Starting in early 2026 in North America and in 2027 in Japan and South Korea, Stellantis customers will be able to charge compatible BEVs at thousands of Tesla Supercharger locations.
Tesla Supercharger network availability will start in 2026 with existing North American BEVs, such as Jeep Wagoneer S and Dodge Charger Daytona, followed by the 2026 Jeep Recon and other future products.

Not sure why they’re so far apart.
The Ford app is much better than most legacy auto apps, and yet is still a long way behind the Tesla app in my experience
Maybe the reason it’s hard to believe is that Tesla’s track record on self driving isn’t exactly stellar
They’ve repeatedly said they’re less than 1 year away from full autonomy for nearly a decade and yet there’s still not any unsupervised driving happening
It's funny to watch Tesla fans try to wrap their head around the idea that the $25,000 compact Tesla will only be sold without a steering wheel.
"But... no steering wheel? How would that... maybe they'll just add a steering wheel? Maybe a joystick?"
No, most cars produced in the future won't have steering wheels. I know it's hard to believe.

The only thing the next-gen roadster doesn’t seem to be able to do is exist…
The Next-Gen Tesla Roadster will use Cold Gas Thrusters developed in partnership with SpaceX that will enable it to travel 0-60 mph in LESS than one second.
A cold gas thruster is a type of rocket engine that uses pressurized gases to generate thrust. On Falcon 9, SpaceX uses cold gas thrusters to control its attitude during re-entry and landing.
Elon has mentioned before that the Roadster will use Compressed Air or Nitrogen stored at 10,000 psi which will be connected to an electric pump in place of the rear seats.
Elon has also mentioned that the Roadster will be able to fly or hover for a period of time. The new Roadster is actively being developed by Tesla & SpaceX as we speak.
