FSD could literally free up OVER $1.5 trillion/yr... WHY isn't anyone talking about this??
If Lawmakers were serious about serving the people, they would start focusing on how to speed up FSD adoption.
The Data:
Fatal & serious crashes cost the U.S. almost $2 trillion per year in total societal harm; including ~$400 billion in direct economic costs in the form of:
- medical bills
- property damage
- lost wages
- enormous quality-of-life cost of lost years
- permanent disability
Tesla’s latest FSD data shows vehicles with FSD engaged are ~9× SAFER than the average driver.
That means, if fully adopted, FSD could produce savings the size of any one of these:
- ~6% of GDP
- The entire Social Security program
- Medicare AND Medicaid
- Roughly 2× the defense budget
At this scale, FSD (and technologies like it) could be one of the first real steps toward an age of AI "abundance" people talk about.
50 years from now, our children and grandchildren will look back in horror at the fact that we ever drove at all.

Kevin O’Leary defends Elon Musk’s extraordinary wealth and says America should reward innovators, not punish them: “Show me anywhere on Earth where there’s a person like that.” 🇺🇸
“Elon Musk is often used as the example—nearly the wealthiest man on Earth. How many jobs has he created? How much tax has he paid?
If we didn’t have him, would there be Starlink? Would there be Tesla? Would there be all this innovation in robotics? No. Let’s punish him for his success.
He’d be fine with $100 million. He lives in a shack somewhere. He doesn’t care. He needs that money to deploy the next mission. I want to give him as much money as possible, because look at his execution skills. Show me anywhere on Earth where there’s a person like that.
Thank goodness he doesn’t live in Russia or China or North Korea. He’s here in America because he wants to pursue the American Dream.
If you have a great idea and you’re sitting in France, you get on a plane and go to Texas. That’s where you make it happen.
We bring the geniuses here because they want to live in freedom, and they want to be rewarded. That’s the American Dream.”

Surprise: @DougDeMuro is not over the Tesla Roadster:
- “that was the coolest automotive product launch in history.”
- “I think it’s cool.”
- On @elonmusk’s politics: “You know what hit me about Elon during this? Like, he's got a flying car. And I think that Elon was really cool right up until he involved himself in American politics. Like, what a stain. Like, he's sitting there revealing this. Imagine if this was still, like, the Elon from eight years ago, where it was just, he's created a car company and he's going to space and, like, that was cool, Elon.”
Doug’s cohost is very negative about the Roadster, Tesla and Elon. But Doug has a measured take.
🏎️ 2 weeks until the @Tesla Roadster launch and @DougDeMuro says he’s “over it.”
Let’s see how that ages…

I’m looking forward to Tesla’s release of their in-house navigation system. Sounds like it’s going to really fix a lot of navigation issues currently going on.
• It will be AI-based mapping and navigation, not traditional third-party maps.
• It will have voice integration, so you’ll be able to talk to it and ask for different routes.
• Ashok says it will learn your personal preferences. It may know you better than you know yourself.
• The new system will use collective intelligence from all Tesla vehicles to improve maps and routing.
• It will eventually take over parking, destination handling, and full navigation over the next several months.
Even now, the only time I’ll ever disengage is generally because of navigation errors. But to Tesla’s credit, the most recent updates with route preferences have improved FSD.
Ashok said the new features will start appearing in the FSD V15 release, which is planned to come later this year, or early next year the last time Tesla mentioned it.

Tesla said today that they’re rebuilding the entire in-vehicle navigation system from the ground up with AI. It’s going to have voice integration, and will learn your personalized preferences:
Ashok: “It’s only right that we shouldn’t be depending on external people’s maps. So we are building our own maps, but not like the same way as traditional maps.
We are building an entire new architecture with essentially AI-based mapping and navigation. It’s going to be super awesome. It’s going to be integrated with voice. You can talk to it and ask for different routes. It’s going to learn your personalized preferences, plus also the fleet preferences. The collective intelligence of all the cars are going to flow into making the maps and navigation.
You’ll see the start and end of trips already use this technology pretty soon as part of the V15 release. Over the next several months, it’s just going to take over all of the navigation functions, parking, destination handling. We’ll know you better than you know yourself in some regard for the driving tasks. It’ll handle it fully.”
Can’t wait for V15. It’s going to include so many new features.

What are three health myths or health practices that I think are misinformed?
Obsessing over protein. Ignoring social interaction. Thinking more exercise is better.
Americans focus too much of their time on the wrong things to prioritize wellness. Most people probably get enough protein. Peter Attia ignores how having meaningful social relationships is integral to longevity. Overexercising can lead to injury.

I’ve spent a few days thinking about the Tesla Roadster reveal and landed somewhere I haven’t seen much discussion. I’m neither a Tesla fanboy nor a Tesla hater. And I couldn’t care less whether what we saw technically qualifies as a flying car. Three takeaways: (1) The risk of that live demonstration going horribly wrong was real. Almost no CEO would willingly expose their company to that kind of public humiliation for a product with so little financial upside. Elon did. (2) That willingness to attempt the seemingly impossible is what makes Tesla special. It’s also arguably Elon’s greatest contribution to America. He’s helped bring back something we’ve lost. The American spirit of chasing big scary ideas that most people think are impossible. That mindset is spreading across a new generation of founders and its long term impact on America’s future could dwarf anything Tesla ever sells. I think this is deeply underappreciated. (3) Can we just acknowledge how insanely cool that moment was? We’ve reached a strange place culturally where even extraordinary feats of human ingenuity immediately become arguments about why they don’t count. Not everything needs to be a debate. Sometimes we should just be able to stand back together and marvel at what humans are capable of. I’ve been both bullish and critical of Tesla’s ambitions over the years. But watching Elon and his team push the boundaries of what’s possible reminds me why I’m glad we have him. Whether the Roadster ever makes Tesla a dollar or impacts $TSLA stock price is almost beside the point. We need more people willing to risk failure in pursuit of things the rest of us think are impossible. Because when they succeed we all win.
