Was Stanwick Hillfort the site of a heroic last stand against the Romans?
Or the Royal fortress of the most powerful Celtic Queen in Britain?
The story of one of Britain's largest Iron Age hillforts is full of twists and turns. Link below 👇
There's a widely repeated claim in something I'm researching which is circulated everywhere with everyone citing the same source, which always gets my spidey senses tingling, so I tracked down the original German manuscript PDF, translated it, and disproved it
People are asking me what the specific fact is, so although I'll go into more detail in my video in a few weeks, the basic gist is:
> popular claim that Oliver Cromwell's head was owned by Claudius du Puy
> check the source (a German guy writing in 1710)
> German guy doesn't believe the head is genuine
> no explanation of how du Puy obtained the head
> story only mentioned in German guy's writings
> no actual evidence that he ever owned it
> everyone has repeated the claim uncritically without bothering to investigate
you'll get the full video in a couple of weeks
Delighted to share that I am part of this year's Remembrance Assembly on November 11th. It's a free resource aimed at ages 9-14 to explore what Remembrance means and how young people can connect with the Remembrance community. If you're an educator, please share! Link below 👇

Your hair gets greasy after a windy day because the little guys holding the hair follicles to your head get sweaty from all the stress
People say that regional accents are disappearing, which is true to some extent, but I've also noticed a shift towards emphasising regionalism, perhaps as a result of broader national identities collapsing. The Scouse accent is thicker now than it ever was, and I've noticed some people stressing their accent more for comic effect. I sometimes deliberately emphasise my way of speaking because my idiolect is an important part of who I am, and differentiates me from everyone else. So as society progressively coagulates into the same bland beige, I think people are emphasising the parts of themselves which make them unique.
I remake old videos when I know I can do it a lot better this time round, so it really annoys me when I see podcasts just re-uploading old episodes with the title "classic". It makes you think there's a new episode, but no! Just an old one you've already heard. Maybe they think people are so stupid they couldn't possibly scroll back through episodes?
so sex & the city totally ripped off this theme music, right?
