The first National Coming Out Day was held in 1988 as a way to show support for LGBTQIA+ individuals who had “come out of the closet” and to raise awareness of issues that surround the community.

This Women’s History Month we wanted to highlight some of the women who inspired Dr. Brown. In this excerpt from a biographical essay written by Dr. Brown she highlights two women: Maria Baldwin and Lucy Craft Laney.
