Diwali has always been one of my favourite times of year. It brings back fond memories of celebrating with family, and it was a joy to share that spirit on Parliament Hill tonight alongside my dear friend and colleague, @gary_srp. From small-town Nova Scotia to the heart of Canada’s democracy, seeing the traditions I grew up with celebrated here is especially touching. May the Festival of Lights remind us of the hope we bring to each other’s lives and the strength we find in community. Shubh Diwali! 🪔

The Nazi symbol of hate was a European hakenkreuz ("hooked cross"), not an Indian swastika. In fact, the one place you would never find a swastika is in Nazi propaganda. It wasn't Adolf Hitler who called his symbol a swastika. It was the New York Times. indiancentury.org/community-…

HCF Recognizes 46 Years of Leadership and Public Service Mayor Gord Krantz @TownOfMiltonON Some leaders hold office. Others leave a lasting place in the hearts of communities. The Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF) extends its heartfelt appreciation to Mayor Gord Krantz for his extraordinary 46 years of service as Mayor of Milton. Our Hindu community has shared a special relationship with Mayor Krantz, particularly during the 2022 municipal elections, when we worked closely to strengthen Hindu Canadian representation and civic engagement. We fondly recall his words at our very first celebration in Milton, organized under the HCF banner: “I am surprised to see such a big Hindu community in Milton” Those words meant a great deal to us. At a time when Hindu Canadians were often underrepresented or their distinct identity overlooked, this was among our earliest celebrations in Milton organized explicitly under the Hindu identity. It was more than a Holi celebration. It was a moment of recognition, visibility, and belonging. After an extraordinary 46 years as Mayor, Gord Krantz concluded this election in second place, accepting the outcome with grace and dignity. On behalf of HCF, we congratulate Mayor Gord Krantz on his remarkable public service and thank him for his leadership, accessibility, and engagement with our community. Mayor Krantz, your legacy extends far beyond City Hall. You will always hold a special place in the hearts of Hindu Canadians in Milton. Thank you for your service. Thank you for the memories. And thank you for being part of our community’s journey. With gratitude and respect, Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF) #GordKrantz #Milton #HinduCanadianFoundation #HinduHCF #CommunityLeadership #PublicService #HinduCanadians

HINDU CANADIANS YOUR VOICE MATTERS. YOUR VOTE COUNTS! Silence cannot bring change. Civic participation can. Our communities deserve safety, respect, representation, and a meaningful voice in decisions that affect our future. As we head to the Ontario Municipal Elections on October 26, 2026, the Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF) calls for greater attention to critical priorities: PROTECT HINDU TEMPLES - Demand stronger measures to safeguard Hindu places of worship from threats, vandalism, and extremist attacks, including those motivated by CBKE extremism. ENSURE HINDU CANADIAN REPRESENTATION - Our community deserves a seat at the table when decisions affecting our safety, cultural identity, and civic participation are made. We cannot demand change while remaining absent from the democratic process. On October 26, don’t just discuss the issues. SHOW UP AND VOTE! Know your candidates. Ask tough questions. Evaluate their records, policies, and commitments. Make an informed decision. #HinduCanadianFoundation #HinduCanadians #OntarioVotes2026 #MunicipalElections2026 #ProtectHinduTemples #StopHinduphobia #CivicEngagement #YourVoteMatters

HINDU CANADIANS: YOUR VOICE. YOUR VOTE. YOUR FUTURE. Democracy begins at the grassroots. Participation makes it stronger. At the Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF), we believe that meaningful civic engagement begins with conversations, education, awareness, and active participation. Over the past several months, HCF and our dedicated community volunteers have facilitated conversations with municipal candidates and community members across Ontario including Windsor, Kitchener, Cambridge, Waterloo, Milton, Hamilton, Oshawa, Toronto, and many other communities. Through face-to-face discussions, community dialogues, people-to-people outreach, and online education, our mission has remained clear: Educate. Engage. Empower. For too long, the identity, contributions, and concerns of Hindu Canadians have not always been adequately understood or represented in civic conversations. That must change through informed, constructive, and consistent participation. Civic engagement is not about supporting a particular political party or candidate. It is about understanding our democratic rights, raising community concerns, holding elected representatives accountable, and helping build stronger Canadian communities. As a grassroots organization, HCF remains committed to: 1. Educating Hindu Canadians about their democratic rights and responsibilities. 2. Encouraging informed and independent voting decisions. 3. Building meaningful relationships between communities and elected representatives. 4. Ensuring Hindu Canadian voices are heard, understood, and respected. 5. Empowering the next generation to become confident, responsible, and engaged Canadian citizens. MONDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2026 ONTARIO MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS This Monday, make your voice count! 📍 Find your voting location and hours. 🪪 Check the identification requirements. ⏰ Plan your visit to the polling station. Encourage eligible family members, friends, and neighbours to participate. Your vote is your voice. Your participation strengthens democracy. Regardless of whom you support, take the time to understand the candidates, their priorities, and their vision for your city. Don’t just be part of the community. Be part of the democratic process. Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF) 🌐 hinducanadian.org @HinduHCF HCF promotes non-partisan civic education and engagement. We encourage every eligible voter to make an independent, informed choice. #HinduCanadianFoundation #HinduCanadians #OntarioMunicipalElections #MunicipalElections2026 #YourVoteMatters #CivicEngagement #ProudlyHinduProudlyCanadian #GetOutAndVote

Windsor Hindu Community Engagement 2026 The Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF) successfully organized a community civic engagement session in Windsor, led by Divya Jain, bringing together Hindu Canadian families and community members for meaningful dialogue on local issues, community priorities, and civic participation. We sincerely appreciate Mayor Drew Dilkens for taking the time to engage with community members, listen to their perspectives, and participate in an open discussion. At HCF, we believe that an informed, engaged, and empowered Hindu Canadian community is essential to a stronger and more inclusive Canada. Our mission remains clear: Encourage participation, build relationships with civic leadership, and ensure Hindu Canadian voices are heard at every level of government. Ahh yess.... Celebrating Hindu Heritage is "fascist" - - your ignorant posts make your average Hindu work harder to counteract your nonsense.
Hindu heritage is not Hindutva. Ahead of Jersey City’s Oct. 23 Hindu Heritage Celebration, we’re asking Council members to disclose the event’s sponsors and refuse to legitimize organizations associated with religious supremacy, hate, or exclusion. buff.ly/0wZT4Wb

शुभ दशहरा एवं विजयादशमी! Two Divine Victories. One Eternal Truth DHARMA ALWAYS PREVAILS! Bhagwan Shri Ram’s victory over Ravana reminds us that truth defeats arrogance and righteousness conquers evil. Maa Durga’s victory over Mahishasura reminds us that divine Shakti triumphs over injustice and darkness. May Bhagwan Shri Ram inspire us to live with truth and courage, and Maa Durga bless us with strength and wisdom. Let Dharma Rise. Let Adharma Fall. The Hindu Canadian Foundation extends its deepest condolences to the families, friends of Sergeant Morgan Wong, Private Shaun Farrell, Private Aidan Goulding, and Private Hayden Lykkemark, who lost their lives in the tragic fire at CFB Wainwright. These Canadian soldiers answered the call to serve our country. Their sacrifice will be remembered with honour. Our thoughts and prayers are with the 39 injured members of the Canadian Armed Forces and their loved ones. We stand in solidarity with the entire CAF community and the people of Wainwright during this difficult time. Om Shanti. 🙏 #CFBWainwright #CanadianArmedForces #WeWillRememberThem

#BREAKING: Potential Mass Shooting Plot Thwarted in Aurora, Illinois. Authorities say a 19-year-old allegedly plotted a mass shooting targeting a Hindu place of worship. Police reportedly recovered a rifle, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, body armor and a manifesto expressing white supremacist extremism and hostility toward people of Indian descent. This comes during Navaratri when thousands of Hindus gather for Garba and also just two weeks after a Hindu temple in Ohio was attacked. We commend law enforcement for swift action. We also urge the community to stay vigilant and Report any potential threat. Every community deserves to worship without fear. chicago.suntimes.com/crime/2…

The Hindu Canadian Foundation welcomes the recent warm and productive conversation between Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney. We are encouraged by the commitment of both leaders to strengthen the India-Canada strategic partnership in areas including trade, energy, technology, security, and people-to-people ties. Hindu Canadians maintain deep historical, cultural, familial, and spiritual connections to India, our ancestral homeland. Over the past several years, members of Hindu community and our places of worship have faced targeted attacks and intimidation by forces that have often invoked the name of India to justify violence against Hindu Canadians. We have consistently called for stronger protections and accountability so that all Canadians can practise their faith freely and safely. We believe a renewed and constructive relationship between Canada and India will contribute to greater prosperity for Canada. India is one of the world’s largest democracies and one of its fastest-growing major economies. Expanded trade, business partnerships, and investment opportunities will benefit Canadian workers, businesses, and communities. Hindu Canadians stand solidly with Prime Minister Mark Carney. We appreciate his leadership and his Canada First approach, which prioritizes the safety, security, and economic well-being of all Canadians, including our community. We look forward to concrete progress that strengthens bilateral cooperation while ensuring the dignity and security of Hindu Canadians. @MarkJCarney @narendramodi @AnitaAnandMP @DrSJaishankar
