A fifty off 14 balls. Then a hundred today. But Nobody is hyping Jake Fraser-McGurk any more. That is the strange part. He has spent this week batting like the most talented kid in Australia and the noise around him is gone, and I still cannot work out whether this bloke is good or garbage.
What happened to this kid?
You know him from the IPL, from when the hype sat at a level almost nobody in Australian cricket ever gets handed. Then he disappeared. Not in one go either, which is what I keep turning over. The fall was somehow sudden and gradual at the same time, and I cannot work out why it happened at all.
Because he could have been the best batting talent in Australia right now. The raw skill is insane. But either he has been reluctant to improve, or his coaches have been unable to fix his technique, and I honestly do not know which of those two it is. Between them, the talent is going to waste.
He is your classic hitter without the technique to back it up. One game in ten the slashing comes off and he looks like the best young batter on earth. The other nine he flops.
Raw skill on its own has never carried anybody far. He has to work out what actually works for him.
It's almost like everyone is better at 5... I'm unironically ready for us to bat Lyon and Starc as openers and see if we can get 8 protected overs from them while the ball seams at right angles. Run the real batters 3 - 9. It's time to INNOVATE.
The Geelong-based Geelong Football Club has held this event at Provans Mitre 10 in the inner-Melbourne suburb of Clifton Hill.
Two-second look at Port ins and outs makes this clearly a Butter make-up. Dumbest league.
This is the MEGA deal. It’s set to be approved by the AFL.
Enjoy 🔥

Blair: Hey Jon, maybe something like this...
Richmond is keen on pick 28 for Jayden Short, which is the Pies second-rounder. Collingwood seems very unwilling to hand over that selection. Collingwood's next pick is 65. That can change but Short has plenty of football left at 30. Seems like there is very little point to trade him for a throw-away pick. He was still seventh in the b-and-f. Both clubs a fair way apart

I have to believe this is engagement farming because that's a nuts expectation. Over under is 4.5 wins.
"8 or 9 games, that has to be the target next year with the young talent they have on the list." - Brad Johnson on Richmond
"If it's not 8 or 9 next year, I don't know what that means for Adem Yze." - Damian Barrett

Said when he left that he'd win a Norm for Fremantle. Nice to be right, but thought it would come with a flag tbh
If they can't officially announce him, then presumably he's forgoing an AFL salary next year? The club is clearly succeeding on the symbolic level if blokes want to delay their careers and salaries to play for them above other clubs.
Brandon Leary is poised to secure a golden ticket to be on Tasmania's inaugural AFL list. The 23yo has opted against nominating for the 2026 AFL Draft, despite interest from Adelaide, Geelong + Collingwood @AFLcomau
