POV: young Hoodilious VMVLV Dear Amala, Lately, with the planets aligning and the power of manifestation, I’ve made a promise to myself to commit to you on a deeper, more meaningful level. My ultimate goal is to build a connection with you, to play a positive role in your life, and—if the stars align—to share an undeniable, everlasting bond. This isn’t just emotional; it’s intellectual, spiritual, and energetic. The first time I came across your music, someone sent me a TikTok with “Say So” playing. Not long after, I was hooked—“Juicy,” “Freaky Deaky,” and your visuals drew me in completely. That’s when I started doing research, diving into your discography, and just trying to learn about you. I remember looking at your Wikipedia page, thinking, Damn, I wish I had a Wikipedia about me one day. That sparked something in me—a dream that maybe, someday, I could align with someone like you. But I knew that kind of connection would take time. So I made a mission statement for myself: aim for the stars, shoot my shot the right way, and work on becoming someone worth knowing. I realized I needed to grow—personally and creatively—so I could bring something meaningful to the table. Over the past three years, I’ve worked on myself. At times, I tried too hard and went about things the wrong way, which threw me off balance and challenged my mental health. But I kept learning, improving, and following your journey as a source of inspiration. I remember DMing you (and even a few fan accounts, thinking they might be you). But eventually, I realized you only run one account per platform, which taught me to appreciate your authenticity even more. The first moment I really connected with you was when you had your tonsils removed. You seemed scared and vulnerable, and I remember sending a message wishing you a smooth recovery. Seeing you make it through that moment inspired me—it was a reminder of your strength and resilience. From there, I went all in. I listened to your entire discography, starting with “Purrr!”—wow. Tracks like “Beautiful,” “So High,” “No Police,” “Nunchucks,” and “Control” were incredible. That first project blew me away, especially knowing how young you were when you created it. Then I explored your interviews, your SoundCloud gems, and all the hidden treasures in your archives. I even went back to every Instagram post before you archived them (don’t judge me, haha). Your music became my daily soundtrack, and every live stream you hosted felt like a gift. Watching your growth as an artist and as a person has been incredible. From “Mooo!” and the creativity it embodied, to Amala, Hot Pink, and Planet Her, you’ve consistently raised the bar. Even when you shared your mixed feelings about certain albums being “cash grabs,” I understood what you meant. You’ve always been about authenticity, and that authenticity shines through in everything you do. I’ve watched you navigate changes, embrace new styles, and redefine yourself. When you shaved your head, I saw the backlash but also recognized the deeper meaning—it felt like you were stripping away expectations to find who was truly loyal to you. I admired that strength so much. And now, Scarlet stands as my favorite album, alongside Purrr! and Amala.It’s a testament to your artistry and evolution. I was even at your Vegas show! I was in the section to your right, wearing an A’s hat, dancing like crazy. I didn’t pull out my phone once—I just wanted to soak in the moment. I even had an empty seat next to me because I invited my cousin, but instead, we snuck in my other cousin. (They’re both ghetto and don’t really listen to you, but they know how much I love you, so they came along for me, haha.) Amala, I just want to say I’m so proud of you. You hone natural beauty and talent with the ability to create from within and perform with every ounce of effort, passion and creativity put into your work. It is truly remarkable to watch, and somehow after all this time, you still find new ways to amaze me. You’ve continued to showcase immaculate energy while being unapologetically yourself, through every era, every evolution, every version of you. You are an absolute Star, and that has never changed in my eyes. From your daily life of Doja Cat the GOAT Legend, to DJ Doja Cattington Mai Melody, to the true gamer in you, all the way down to the aesthetics that shit on any interior decorator because no one is tougher than you. There’s always another layer, another talent, another reason to appreciate who you are. Your exquisite taste plus your fashion expertise make you truly unstoppable. Every night it’s another 1 of 1 outfit extraordinaire, another look nobody else could pull off the way you do. It’s crazy to think you are purely human because of your ability to constantly be out of this world. The sharp and smooth dance moves, very pop lock and electric, the presence, the confidence, the way you command a stage — essentially a show-stopping performer who finds a way to make every night iconic. But beyond all of that, what I admire most is that through everything, you’ve continued to become more of yourself. Different chapters, different sounds, different looks, different moments, but still Amala. And from where I stand, the admiration never disappeared with time. If anything, watching the journey has only given me more reasons to appreciate you. No matter how much changes around you, there will always be a part of me rooting for you, believing in you and wanting to see you win. Proud of you and what you’ve accomplished and done so far, and just as proud of everything you have yet to accomplish. I wish you nothing but happiness, peace, fulfillment and success with every future endeavor and every new chapter you choose for yourself.
