Monday's flowers. Golden daffodils and blue hyacinths. Both highly scented. I hope they brighten your day. x
Dinner was chicken, jacket spuds, cauliflower cheese, broad beans and peas. The troops scoffed it down then had warm Chocolate cake and ice cream. To absent friends.
The sun rose in Dover at 6.35 this morning and 7.10 in Shetland. It will not rise earlier than that until March 4th (6.33) and February 28th (7.07) respectively. Hunker down Peeps!!
Sunday's flowers. Viburnum Bodnantense. Sweetly fragrant, flowering in the depths of winter on bare wood. The leaves emerge in spring. I hope you like them.
Nighty night. I hope you all enjoyed a happy Saturday. Don't forget to put your clocks back tonight. Enjoy your extra hour of darkness. Love to all. xx
I spent the morning sitting on a stool in the village high street. I met some very interesting people some I knew and some I met for the first time today. Dennis was 98 and sharp as a tack. Tobias was 7 and with his Mum and sister. Ian an old neighbour not seen since 2019....
The ruffled petticoats of an aquilegia or the can can dancers dress of an iris are your fleurs du jour. I hope you like them. x
Dinner tonight was a Szechuan curry a la Hoppo. The addition of finely chopped potatoes and tomatoes added a certain extra dimension to it. Served on a bed of fluffy rice.
Dinner tonight was Paella. GD brought home some huge prawns. So chorizo, prawns, carnarolli rice, peppers, onions and paella spices and voila!! It was so tasty and lovely to sit en famille to eat a meal. Now they are older we rarely do as it does not fit their schedules.
Three things about me only two are true:
1, I hitch hiked 410 miles in one day aged 14.
2, I swam 3 miles in less than 1 hour and 7 minutes.
3, I joined Mensa with an entry IQ of 154.
Over to you!!
Thursday's flowers. Four today, one for each season. March crocus, May azalea, October primula and December daffodil. Enjoy.
Saying goodnight now. I just heard a good friend on here has lost their life partner and I am very sad. Hug those you love. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. xx
Just baked a sourdough loaf. I took the starter from the fridge last night and fed it. Then I topped it up this morning. It was bubbling away nicely. Then at lunch time I added flour, salt and water. A god 15 minute need then into a warm place to prove. Finally into bake.
Today was the annual schools pumpkin and autumn day at Wellington college. The children get to 'bob' for apples, taste several varieties of apple, learn about autumn harvests and generally have a good fun day. I parked my car and carried the pumpkins to the venue...
