@andreforatlanta is this allowed? I don’t think planning would have permitted this!

This is extremely disappointing.
Isn’t the point of building these connections between urban neighborhoods to foster connection?
Very bad choice to seal off access between Zephyr and @HousingAtlanta’s Englewood redevelopment.

One reason the Beltline path is so accepted by Atlantans: it didn't replace any car lanes or parking.
A bolder move: create a seamless network of streets where the width currently devoted to cars is reduced & replaced with excellent bike/ped spaces.
We've made a fair start.

Did you educate them about e-bikes vs e-motos too? Gotta keep 'em safe 🫡

Them: "We can't densify Atlanta & reduce car dependency until MARTA is expanded!"
I disagree but OK let's expand MARTA.
"No! MARTA needs to clean house. We can't trust them!"
While we wait for whatever 'clean house' amounts to, can we build density?
"No! Expand MARTA first!"

This is the direct access point between zephyr and the new greenspace plus Chosewood park access. Absolutely ridiculous.

LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOO
NoMa built so much housing that its Metro station needs another front door.
A proposed $50 MILLION entrance at 3rd & N Streets NE would tunnel beneath the railroad tracks to connect the Red Line more directly to Union Market and neighborhoods east of the station.
• Nearly 5 minutes shaved off walks to Union Market
• An alternative to the narrow Florida Avenue underpass
• More homes and businesses within an easy walk of Metro
• Construction expected to begin in 2028
Building housing around transit works. Now the infrastructure needs to catch up.
What other Metro stations need another entrance?

City of Atlanta officials must cap expenses incurred by the More MARTA fund or jeopardize trust & actual transit expansion.
Voters did not approve a major restoration & revamp of Five Points Station.
MARTA’s regular budget needs to eat the cost of MARTA’s vanity project.
