BBC-TV drama series #HowardsWay fan account⛵️The young couple, Leo and Abby, would have had a future together in Series 7... ⚓️😊I rarely reply to DMs.

This is a very imperfect draft and there are still lots of corrections to be made, but that's how I imagine Abby's return might have happened in #HowardsWay 😊 howardsway7.wordpress.com/

That's love.
How love killed James Stewart James Stewart with wife Gloria in 1986. In 1948, at a dinner party given by Gary Cooper, Stewart, Hollywood’s playboy extraordinaire, met the patrician looking Gloria Hatrick McLean. She was clever, recently divorced and the mother of two boys. Hollywood didn’t impress her. Stewart said,” I could tell right off that she was a thoroughbred. She was the kind of a girl I had always dreamed of. The kind you associate with open country, cooking stew and not fainting because there was squirrel in it. She’d look at home on a sailboat or on a raft; in a graceful swing from a tree branch into a swimming pool.” They married in 1949. Unlike so many Hollywood unions, it lasted forty-five years. Stewart adopted her two sons, and the couple had twin daughters together. They lived in the same Beverly Hills house for the rest of their lives. The actor added: “Gloria made this family for me. She made a home for me to come home to.” In 1969, Gloria’s son Ronald, a Marine lieutenant, was killed in Vietnam. The grief was unimaginable, but it only made the couple closer. When Gloria died of lung cancer on February 16, 1994, Stewart was not devastated in the conventional sense; he ceased to live. The star withdrew from his friends and from public life. He stayed at home, obsessively tending the garden his wife had planted. He spoke to her as if she were still alive and living with him. In 1996, doctors needed to replace the battery in the actor’s pacemaker. It was a routine procedure, but he refused to let them do it. Stewart had once said that when his purpose was gone, he would cease to fight. On July 2, 1997, surrounded by his children, he died of a cardiac arrest. His final words were: “I’m going to be with Gloria now.”

In 1972, a diver off the coast of southern Italy saw a hand sticking out of the sand on the seabed and thought he had found a dead body. Then he started brushing the sand away, and this face looked back at him... He's known as Statue A, one of the two Riace Bronzes, and he was cast by a Greek sculptor around 2,500 years ago. He spent most of that time lying under water, and when they finally lifted him out, the face had survived almost untouched. The sculptor built this face out of different materials, piece by piece: the whites of his eyes are carved from calcite, the pupils were made of glass paste, and the tiny tear ducts in the corners of his eyes are a pinkish stone. His lips and even his eyelashes are copper, warmer in tone than the bronze around them, so they read as flesh. And his mouth is slightly open. Look inside and you'll see his teeth, made from a single thin strip of silver. He and his companion are among the very few full-size Greek bronzes to survive at all, since almost all the others were melted down for their metal long ago. The sea that swallowed them is the only reason we can still look into their eyes today...

This mama cow had just lost her baby and was still grieving by his side. A few days later, an orphaned calf also needed a mother. They were brought together, and little by little, something truly beautiful happened. The calf needed a mama. She needed a baby. And then, they found each other❤️

29th September - Michaelmas 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Today is the ancient feast of St Michael and All Angels, traditionally known in England as Michaelmas. The feast itself was celebrated across Western Christendom, but Michaelmas became deeply woven into English life. It marked the turning of the seasons, the end of harvest, and became one of England’s four traditional quarter days, when rents were paid, contracts began and legal and university terms were reckoned. For centuries, churches dedicated to St Michael stood across England, often depicting the Archangel armed for battle and defeating the dragon, the triumph of God over Satan and evil. St Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

A tiny newborn elephant was swept away from its mother while trying to cross the swollen Teesta River in India. Fishermen spotted its trunk above the water and chased it for nearly 4 km through the powerful current before pulling the exhausted calf to safety. Then, after a two-hour search, they found its mother. She rushed to her baby, took it back and began nursing it❤️

At 14, Zack MacLeod Pinsent burned his last pair of jeans after finding a box of his great-grandfather’s suits, and he hasn’t worn modern clothes since. What could have remained a teenage phase became his trade. He taught himself historical tailoring and built a business in Brighton, drafting patterns by hand and making clothes using techniques from the 1660s through the 1920s. His clients now range from museums to people who simply want garments cut the old way. Last year he hosted a Regency Ball at Brighton’s Royal Pavilion that sold out in under three minutes, drawing 150 people from seventeen countries to spend a night dressed for the world Zack decided at 14 he’d rather live in.
