We pay our deepest respects to the passing today of Roy Hattersley at the age of 93. Former Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, MP, and Peer of Birmingham Sparkbrook. He was also instrumental in the creation of HULC. Our thoughts go out to his wife and family during this time

Great to see so many students campaigning to Make Work Pay across the weekend.
This Labour government is delivering the biggest upgrade to workers’ rights in a generation. For young workers that means more secure work, a boost to pay and protection from unfair practices.
Brilliant turnout over the weekend from Yorkshire and Humber students. Thank you to Leeds and York who joined us out on the doors campaigning for Margaret Pinder for Mayor alongside our brilliant Ings Cllrs Alan and Denise

Brilliant turnout today from students. 13 from Hull making up over 20 out on the doors campaigning for Margaret Pinder for Mayor alongside Karl Turner MP.
Great to be joined last night by Margaret Pinder our mayoral candidate for the upcoming Hull and East Riding election. We heard about what she wants to do as Mayor but also her amazing life before politics. Now we need to get Margaret elected.
HULC were back on the doorstep in Newington and Gypsyville speaking to residents with our mayoral candidate Margaret Pinder, local MP Emma Hardy, Veterans Minister Al Carns, Labour group leader Cllr Daren Hale and local Cllr Tracey Dearing.
Thank you to everyone who came out.
It was great to be joined by Cllr Jess Raspin last night getting to hear about when she chaired HULC, being on the NoLS exec and how she got into becoming a councillor and the importance of campaigning.
This week we have cllr Jess Raspin joining us on Thursday. She’ll be talking about how she made the most of her time at Hull and how it’s helped her go on to shape a career post uni. A really good one if you are unsure about post uni opportunities. Hope to see you there!
An amazing evening with Emma Hardy talking about her role within the government and how we can help Margaret Pinder win in Hull and the East Riding, thank you all for coming! 🌹
Last night we were joined by Dr Matt Beech for a lecture and Q&A ‘Factions and traditions in the Labour Party since 1945’. Great to hear from Matt and plenty to talk about. Hope to see many of you with us tonight when we are joined by Emma Hardy MP. Please message for details.
Lord John Prescott - he never stopped to fight the people he represented. Even with his successes from Westminster to Kyoto - he never forgot his roots, his principle or his adopted city of Hull. Today, we lay him to rest.
RIP John.
Join us on the 30th January for our first academic talk of the year from Dr Matt Beech as he covers the ‘Factions and Traditions in the Labour Party since 1945’.
