👌 An asphalt pavement consists of different asphalt layers.
In general, the asphalt layers are paved on a bound or unbound road base layer. The first layer is called the surface course. The second layer is mostly called the binder course. The lower layers are the base courses.
I'll be participating in a panel discussion at Traffex 2022. Why not join me? invt.io/1txbrsh1to4
Well said Wesley. Cycling in the big cities is a must because of population density. Likewise the motorway and major road network is built and maintained like a valuable asset should be...unlike here.
Q&A session with this morning’s speakers at #iatwesternbranch
I agree with the sentiment but can DfI correct the terminology so that a lawyer can’t rip a hole in it? “In engineering, a pavement is a man-made surface on natural ground that people, vehicles or animals can cross. Any ground surface prepared for transport counts as a pavement.

Took this photo this week week - result of end of truck segregation - pavement 2 years old - engineers need to learn the practice in faa.gov/regulations_policies… so as to avoid these issues. Balance mix plant production with paving production. Implement good paving/rolling practice.

B is probably Mastic Asphalt, increasingly used for this purpose. I'm not sure the joint or gully sides were painted here either though.
Jackson, you'd be wasted. Today's so called " Engineers" in @deptinfra dont know the difference between HRA and Asphalt Concrete. Lack of training and desire for life long learning to blame.
