Laverne may have been her first dip into pop culture immortality, but Penny Marshall’s greatest gift to Hollywood was as a pioneering female director and producer. How dim our lives would be without the movie ā€œBigā€ in our lives. Thank you, Penny. #PennyMarshall

Penny Marshall was a sweet woman. I was very fortunate to spend time with her. So many laughs. She had a heart of gold. Tough as nails. She could play round ball with the best of them. Always All love, D

How do you honor the holidays in your own way, w/out a traditional family setup, or if there's too much trauma/pain during holidays? Do you not partake? Do you reclaim it somehow? This is for a @LunaLunaMag article. Also: love to all of you out there around this time of year.

We resist a telling of history that erases the violence of colonialism. We challenge celebrations of genocidal conquerors like Columbus. We speak out with Indigenous people and commit to addressing systemic oppression and threats to tribal sovereignty. #indigenouspeoplesday

Thought he’d just focus on Kavanaugh. Instead he gave best response on rape culture I’ve ever heard from a man! I aspire to be this reflective. Damn! #CancelKavanaugh #StopKanavaugh

Dear America, The next time you want to elect a political outsider elect a teacher. Why? - They are actual public servants. - They are experts in dealing with various mindsets. - They can accomplish the most w/ few resources and no support. -And teachers can handle ANYTHING.

When Roberts was confirmed to SC, Howard Zinn said, ā€œIt would be naive to depend on the SC to defend the rights of poor people, women, people of color, dissenters of all kinds. Those rights come alive when citizens organize, protest, demonstrate, strike, boycott and rebel...ā€

Social media is only partly real. The reality is that we’re all existing offline as well. Online you can’t see the layers, the empathy, the kindness, the trauma, the nuance, the everything. You see a suggestion of it or a performance or a fraction of the Self. Remember this.

Also, our very recent ancestors would not have qualified under today’s immigration laws. You might see a false equivalency; I see a call-out to something very real and very insidious.

Keeping ppl from entering the country for purposes of safety+fleeing poverty/oppression (like Italians) is a moral issue. So many people DO like to honor their ancestral immigration story but then go and shame others. Also, "the law" doesn't make something "good" or right."

Welcome LIGHT MAGIC FOR DARK TIMES into the world! It’s out September 11 but oooooh I got to touch and hold my first copy last night! I’m humbled and excited. šŸ’—šŸ”®šŸ–¤ (These pics were taken in different lighting, but it’s actually a very pale marbled pink).
