ALT We express our deepest sorrow over the news of the death of Mulugeta Andualem, an ambulance driver of the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS), who was killed during an armed attack while carrying out his humanitarian duties. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his loved ones, his colleagues at the ERCS, and all those affected by this painful loss. Humanitarian and health-care personnel must be respected and protected so they can continue providing a lifeline to the communities they serve. Violence against humanitarian and health-care personnel, vehicles and facilities is unacceptable and must stop.

ALT We are heartbroken by the death of Badr al-Din Omar Musa, a volunteer from the Sudanese Red Crescent Society who was killed while carrying out his humanitarian duties in the Blue Nile Region. As we mourn this terrible loss, our thoughts are with his loved ones and the SRCS during this difficult time. Badr al-Din was a dedicated volunteer who gave his time and efforts to serving others and helping deliver essential primary healthcare services to communities in need. We urgently call for the protection of humanitarian personnel, healthcare staff and other civilians as well as the respect of medical facilities and humanitarian services, in accordance with international humanitarian law.

ALT No one should go hungry because of how a war is fought. Food security is not a privilege. In armed conflict, civilians must be able to access the food, water and means they need to survive.
