A West Bengal media delegation led by #PIBKolkata visited the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla (@IIASShimla ) and explored the historical, political, architectural and intellectual significance of the institute and the iconic #ViceregalLodge , which houses it.
Initially built as the summer seat of governance for the Indian subcontinent for British Viceroys 137 years ago, the institution was later used as the home of Indian presidents and evolved as #IIAS , a centre for advanced research, scholarship and intellectual exchange, in 1964.
