If democracy means only voting every 2-4 years, it becomes something distant and theoretical.
But if you give people tangible ways to improve their community with their neighbors, it can make democracy feel like something worth saving.
Bring back local, year-round democracy.

Trillion-dollar corporations will blow money on anything except the workers that keep them operational.
A document unveiled in a court case appears to show Amazon using AI to track workers and rank how likely they are to form unions.
The document has been released as part of court proceedings between Amazon and Canadian union Unifor.
It shows Amazon using an AI tool dubbed "Atlas" to give warehouses a risk score of between 100 and 900 for union activity, with a lower score meaning it believes workers are more likely to unionize. A higher score is “better” for leaders at the company, the document says.

Between higher utility bills, lower tax revenue, and more pollution, data centers are rarely a net positive for locals.
Instead of earning trust with transparency, Big Tech is trying to ram these projects through with as much secrecy as possible -- and people aren't having it!
NEW: Trump’s EPA head, Lee Zeldin, is decreeing that there’s no need for local communities to be consulted or even notified of new polluting AI data centers.
People are fighting data centers.
The government is fighting people.
Zeldin has also unilaterally declared making the U.S. “the artificial intelligence capital of the world” one of the EPA’s five central priorities. @JimHightower: otherwords.org/people-are-fi…

NEW: Community life — places where you can walk in and know people, take responsibility for something, make decisions together — is collapsing all over the country.
Defending our democracy nationally requires rebuilding this participation locally.
