For the people in the back: “immigrants don’t take jobs away from people who are here already. Rather, they are generating other job opportunities by putting their earnings back into an economy where the total number of jobs has historically increased along with the population.”

Rick Scott had to resign as executive of a company that committed the largest case of Medicare fraud in U.S. history. The company was fined $1.7 billion for it but Scott still left with $300 million in stock, $5.1 million severance and a $950k consulting contract for five years.

Worth noting:
This barely survived. It was a 4-3 vote.
And the 3 dissenting justices who wanted to deny Floridians their constitutional right to vote on this issue will be on this court for a long time.
All were appointed, relatively inexperienced, in their early 40s ...

"Eat at a local restaurant tonight. Get the cream sauce. Have a cold pint at 4 o’clock in a mostly empty bar. Go somewhere you’ve never been. Listen to someone you think may have nothing in common with you.
Order the steak rare. Eat an oyster. Have a negroni. Have two. Be open to a world where you may not understand or agree with the person next to you, but have a drink with them anyways.
Eat slowly. Tip your server. Check in on your friends. Check in on yourself. Enjoy the ride."

#Miami set a new record high heat index on Friday (107.5°F), as well as a new record high dewpoint (80.1°F). Pretty brutal, even for here.
So far this year, that's the 9th daily record high heat index, and the 6th daily record high dewpoint.

To me, the most interesting people are not super successful billionaire types.
They are life hackers.
What do I mean?
People who have figured out clever ways to live a more interesting life and focus their time on what makes them happiest.
For example, my friend @nickgraynews — who was already a super successful entrepreneur — decided that he was happiest meeting and connecting people.
He reoriented his entire life to hosting parties.
But not shallow drunken parties.
Parties that are designed to create connection and introduce people. To make friendships.
(I recently attended one, and made 5 new friends who I definitely wouldn't have connected with in the same way if Nick hadn't been facilitating)
Nick's entire life is just collecting and connecting interesting friends, getting everyone to hang out, and travelling/doing cool stuff with them.
He is a Friend Billionaire, which is much cooler than being a Money Billionaire, IMO.
Who else is like this?
You should go buy his book, BTW, on how to host these parties.
It's incredible:

Gov DeSantis warned teachers in Manatee County, Fla that every book on their shelves was banned until otherwise notified. Failure to lock up all their books until they could be "vetted" by censors put them at risk of being prosecuted as felons.
Books are inherently dangerous?

The $857 billion budget that passed Congress this week is $45 billion higher than what the President requested. To put this number into perspective, it would cost $90 billion a year to cut child poverty in half, and $20 billion to end homelessness in the United States.

Americans WANT:
—to raise the minimum wage
—strengthen social safety nets & unions
—make the wealthy & corporations pay their fair share
—and much more
Why won't Congress get it done?
Because their corporate donors tell them not to.
