So its been a while but its because we've been so busy. Friday the week before Thanksgiving we finally got the call to have our match meeting. Its a nerve wracking experience. You’re excited to finally move forward, to learn more about the child you hope becomes your own...
But its also sobering. This is when you learn about your kiddos history, the really tough stuff, what their struggles are, how they cope. In the meeting they gave us the overview, we spoke w/ our kiddos care team & they handed us a large packet with all the details.
We accepted the match! While we were overjoyed to begin this journey w/ our kiddo, it was tinged with a cavernous sadness & tinged w/ rage. It was hard to feel the full joy of this huge step, knowing what our kiddo had to face.

It's 8 months since we inquired about adopting. It took 4 months to get in to the parenting classes. It's been 3 months since & we still haven't gotten to meet him. "They're too busy" to finish our paperwork. He's SEVENTEEN.

Correction: It's been over 11 months since we took our intro to adopt class, & 8 months since we inquired specifically about this teen. Still waiting for a response from our case manager. Hopefully we'll hear something today 🤞

Home study interview #2, This time w/ the subcontractor that was given our case. Hopefully in two weeks we'll have a completed homestudy, and move on to disclosure and meeting our kiddo ♡

The process continues.....to stagnat. The contractor was suppose to come today she was a no call, no show. Called the supervisor, who got the contractor to call us. She explained that the agency often says it is expedited, but really they just don't have time.... it should take
about 2 weeks. So much for case worker who said she was trying to have our kiddo home for halloween. At this point it's almost been a year since we started this process, the system is so broken.

After 2 weeks of not hearing back from our case worker, we called her supervisor. Who is subcontracting out the rest of our homestudy. Almost 2 weeks later still waiting for an update. We're hoping to spend Halloween w/ our future son, but it's looking like a long shot

We were finally able to touch base w/ urology. Hubby has a bilateral varicocele & doc feels surgery has a good chance of improving sperm morphology. This could hopefully mean post surgery using IUIs could be successful, which would be a huge financial assist.

I can't handle one more family member saying "maybe some things aren't meant to be" when discussing trying #IVF. I know your accident babies weren't hard to come by, but that doesnt mean I shouldn't be a mom. It's so hurtful. Sorry my hubby is a #DisabledVet.

Today we finally had our infertilty follow up. Doc said we have hit the plateau for IUI success. Doc highly recommend #IVF as our only real chance for a bio-child. Good news is I have a good ovarian reserve, but we will need #ICSI.

Our case worker responded this afternoon, but did not reschedule. We wrote back we were available anytime today, still no response. This process is like being in the military all over again, hurry up & wait.... #wellTrained

We finished our adoption parenting class. Home inspection is scheduled for this Saturday, then just waiting for our background checks to come back. We've been pre-matched w/ a teen boy & we're so excited to meet him!
