El Niño is leaving its fingerprint on the ocean—and ISRO’s satellite is watching!
ISRO’s EOS-06 (Oceansat-3) is detecting a reduction in ocean Chlorophyll-a for the month of June 2026, indicating changes in tiny marine plants (phytoplankton), along with a shift in surface winds.
From space, these changes offer a fascinating glimpse into the evolving 2026 El Niño and its impact on our oceans compared with signatures in 2024 & 2025.

Flight acceptance hot test of CE20 cryogenic engine earmarked for the C32 upper stage of upcoming LVM3 mission at uprated thrust conditions of 220kN is successfully carried out at ISRO Propulsion Complex, Mahendragiri on September 09, 2026.
Performance of the LOX Tank Pressurization Module (LTPM) meant for the C32 stages for Gaganyaan missions was also successfully demonstrated in this test.
Mission GSLV-F17/EOS-05 Update:
EOS-05 REACHES GEOSYNCHRONOUS ORBIT!
ISRO has successfully completed the third and final orbit-raising manoeuvre of EOS-05 at 8:57 PM IST on September 7, 2026.
This marks the completion of the major orbit-raising phase after EOS-05 was initially injected into a Sub-Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (Sub-GTO) by GSLV-F17 on September 4.
Third and final orbit manoeuvring of EOS-05 spacecraft
The third and final orbit raising manoeuvre to increase the perigee of EOS-05 completed successfully at 8:57 pm on September 07, 2026.
The LAM engine fired for 1247 seconds and the estimated orbit after manouever is 34903 km x 35884 km.
The satellite health is normal.

Mission GSLV-F17/EOS-05 Update:
The second orbit-raising manoeuvre of EOS-05 was successfully completed at 7:00 PM IST on September 6, 2026. 🚀
The satellite’s Liquid Apogee Motor (LAM) fired for 338.9 seconds, raising its estimated apogee to 35,786 km. 🛰️
Mission GSLV-F17/EOS-05 Update:
Just a day after being placed into Sub-GTO by GSLV-F17, EOS-05 has successfully fired its Liquid Apogee Motor (LAM) for the first time, raising its perigee from 171 km to 20,000 km.
LAM burn: 5,406.4 seconds
Completed at: 8:19 PM IST
Orbit Achieved: 20,000 Km × 31,129 km
This is the first of a series of orbit-raising maneuvers that will gradually take EOS-05 toward its final geostationary orbit at around 35,786 km.
An unforgettable view of the GSLV-F17/EOS-05 launch, captured from IndiGo flight 6E 1339 en route from Mumbai to Singapore.
