We won’t post anything but this video for 24 hours. It’s horrific. Unconscionable. This #Haitian man is devastated by state-sanctioned and carried out dehumanization and injustice. Her name is Tasia Fortune.
Tasia was 29 years old. Her body was found hanging from a tree behind a vacant home in Jackson, Mississippi.
We should not rush to conclusions, but we also cannot dismiss the fear and painful history these circumstances evoke for Black communities, especially in Mississippi. That history makes transparency, thoroughness, and truth essential.
I am praying for Tasia’s family and loved ones as they grieve. They deserve answers. Tasia deserves dignity. And there must be a complete and transparent investigation into what happened to her.
Justice requires truth, and truth must be pursued without fear, indifference, or delay.
