We need urgent action from the government to reverse dangerous cuts to the fire service. The recent wildfires should be a wake up call.
Since 2010:
🚒 Nearly 12,000 firefighter roles lost
🔥 82 fire stations & 17 control rooms closed
🚒 200+ frontline fire engines removed

This is gut wrenching. Such a fierce, mighty musician from an amazing band. L7 were one of *the* bands of the 1990s and beyond. As good as anyone out there. They confronted misogyny head on and smashed it over and over.
Rest easy Jennifer. The pain is over.

On Firefighters' Memorial Day, we honour the lives of firefighters across the world, including the 2,300 UK firefighters who have died in the line of duty.
At 12 midday, fire and rescue service workers across the UK will line up at their station, control room or other workplace to take part in a minute’s silence.

Today, we remember Firefighter Fleur Lombard, who was killed in the line of duty 29 years ago. Fleur was just 21 years old when she died due to intense heat while fighting a serious fire at a supermarket in Staple Hill.
Her incredible bravery was recognised with the Queen’s Gallantry Medal and the Chief Fire Officer’s Commendation. Last year, her legacy was further honoured with the Elizabeth Emblem, presented by His Majesty The King.
This morning, our Current Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Simon Shilton alongside serving firefighters from Kingswood Fire Station and retired colleagues will lay wreaths at Fleur’s memorial in her honour.
At 11 am, the rest of the Service will observe a minute of silence as a mark of respect.
Fleur’s dedication continues to inspire us all. #FleurLombard #NeverForgotten #Firefighter #AFRS

The horrifying reality of being a woman, perfectly summarised by @_CaitlinORyan
If you give even the slightest shit about women, watch it all. This is what it’s like.

Far too many women have been on the receiving end of harassment, abuse and violence for far too long.
With violence against women and girls declared a ‘National Emergency’, we need our male allies to stand up and call out troubling behaviour when they see it.

Everyone should be treated with dignity and respect at work. Everyone should have the opportunity to progress, and feel protected from mistreatment.
Firefighters are speaking up about why equality matters. Fire service leaders must start listening.

Happy International Woman’s Day everyone!
We’ve came a long way since the days of Emily Pankhurst and the suffragettes, but we’ve equally still got a long way to go!
I challenge all men in our profession to call out sexism and misogyny when they see it, and fight for equality.

Another example of thermal runaway, different story if this had been laid inside next to other combustible materials.

Lithium batteries are becoming a common household item. E-Bikes, tools, and motorized toys all have them; make sure you are looking after yours properly. This fire was started in a shed being used to charge and store several Lithium batteries...1/
