High school students in France, protesting for weeks against funding cuts and police repression, joined “yellow vests” opposed to rising fuel and living costs in a national day of action on Saturday. More than 550,000 people marched, according to the Interior Ministry, and riot police were deployed in city after city. A crisis of bourgeois rule came into view in France. The DSA is presented in the media as a natural home of a new American socialism. It is nothing of the sort. It is a 44-year-old organization resting on a political lineage of nearly 90 years, every stage of which was defined by a break with Marxism and from the working class.
Socialists oppose antisemitism, along with every other form of bigotry used to divide the working class. But the report is not a neutral response to hate crimes. It adopts the political narrative that has been used to slander and criminalize opposition to the Gaza genocide. 🔗⬇️
On September 29, Mamdani released what his office calls “the nation’s first-ever municipal Strategy to Combat Antisemitism.” The 33-page report, accompanied by a video announcement, is a capitulation to the most reactionary political forces. wsws.org/en/articles/2026/10…
