Enjoyed presenting some of the results from my MSc dissertation at the @basesuk student conference and co-chaired a session too. To top it off I was awarded the postgraduate free communication presentation award.

βI canβt train at homeβ¦but we want to protect the reputation of our country around the world. Being Ukrainian right now, thatβs a big responsibilityβ

The goal, the Paris Olympics in 2024, & @cardiffmet are helping make it happen. β at Cardiff, Wales
It's been a great privilege over the past couple of weeks to welcome our friends from @ukrathletic back to @cardiffmet. We at @CardiffSpeedHub have been supporting the athletes and coaches in their training πΊπ¦π΄σ §σ ’σ ·σ ¬σ ³σ Ώ[1/2]

We are helping build a plan to target qualification for @Paris2024. It is the athletes' dream to compete there and represent @Ukraine. We know times are hard at the moment, but if you are able to help in any way it will be greatly appreciated π

This is excellent. For anyone who has read this and is serious about doing meaningful applied research in sprinting, make sure to go through the relevant parts of Jamesβ thesis once it is availableβ¦itβs a rare beast full of rigorous science and genuine application π

Not sure how long this thread will eventually be β but if youβre into speed and team sports, I highly recommend bookmarking it, and following along
James has done some important work in this area over the last few years β and makes some really key points in this thread so far ‡οΈ

Genuine question. What do you call someone (in a professional sense) whose work sits here?

Finally got round to successfully defending my PhD thesis today!
Maybe because I already had ~10+ yearsβ experience working in sport before starting my PhD, I can hand on β€οΈ say that 9 years later it has had the biggest positive influence on my APPLIED practice 1/2
Congratulations @wildy_jj, an excellent achievement and a body of work that you can really be proud of π

Had this very conversation with the @BritAthletics Head of Performance last week. Itβs not spoken about β nor researched β anywhere near enough. We know very little about how to mitigate potential negative performance effects
Dina Asher-Smith has called for more research into the effect of periods on performance.
She revealed her cycle caused her to pull up with cramp at #Munich2022.
